Just get the good power to 5. That's plenty for PvE if you want to use him there. It's also good enough in a lot of (not all) PvP situations.

The only thing I'd say is that you also want at least one cover in his Blue because it gives you a get out of jail free against a nuke (if you aren't using Leapfrog).

Mine is currently 4/2/5 and I haven't leveled him (running him at L70) at all. He's great in CL10 PvE and works just fine in PvP since he's never tanking anything anyway (I can get 25 wins easily). I put Leapfrog on him so I can different supports on my other 2 characters.

Depending on how many covers you have, you can set him as your bonus hero and pull until you get at least 1 Blue and 5 yellow covers. No need to rush to do anything more after that.

If he remains as is, then emphatically yes. If they nerf him further, then maybe? -- it depends on the nerf.

They really need to resolve this fast, one way or the other. Why are they letting it hang over people's heads like this?

The new boost period for any new toon is 4 weeks, and they said they would re-evaluate him after the boost period (or some similar wording).

His boost as a new toon should be done in a few days (still going this week, sometimes it goes through the event past the Thursday that marks 4 weeks).

Hopefully they issue some statement soon after that, and/or just make any change.

I am honestly not entirely sure how much he messes up the game given that you he essentially removes 2-3 moves vs using May and Namor and a decent 5, or just May in a pick 2. I mean I know it's super-crazy to win in 0-2 moves, but we were already crazy.

I thought about that after I posted. You're right.

So I’ve thought a lot about what they could do to nerf sidewinder into an appropriate place in the game…
I believe the design intention was for him to bump the match damage of tiers below 5 star so that they could better punch up, so (whilst mechanically probably not that simple to implement) the best option would probably be for his match damage boost to be set to ZERO for his 5 star allies, and only be effective for lower tier characters.
Certain supports have varying effects depending on the rarity of the character they are equipped to, so it shouldn’t be beyond the capabilities of the engine? (At least not the new one…)

As much as it’s nice to quickly snowplough my way through everything with match damage and put my phone back in my pocket after 15 minutes, I actually used to enjoy playing the game, and that’s just not something that feels good any more whilst One Hit Knock Out (OHKO)ing remains an option…
