When to switch to 3* Thor

I have been running OBW and Ares pretty successfully. I finally got enough covers for a 3* Thor and have him soft capped at 115. Is that objectively a better choice than continuing to use Ares or is it more of a toss up?

    3* Thor does more damage than 2* Thor at the same level. His tile damage matches a maxed 2* Thor at around level 100. If you have 4 or 5 yellow covers, definitely switch.

    Yeah that.

    Even if you don't have a lot of green covers he can still do stupid amounts of damage with CotS so I'd be switching him in.

    He's in. I was just curious because Ares feels more powerful and versatile. Thanks all!

    I have a 3/3/4 LazyThor, at level 102. Compared to my 3/5/5 2* Thor:
    - its red do 893 damage (insead of 700)
    - yellow for 1179 damage, convert 6 tiles (2* Thor: 723 damage, 9 tiles)
    - green 1247 damage, *2 on the main target (2*: 1001 damage)

    He still lack a little punch when using yellow (far less cascades), but he does much more damage that the 2*. And I still miss 3 of its best cover!
    I will not go back to 2*Thor or Ares.

    Level 97 is when the match damage in the highest color Beefcake's the same. Powers may have surpassed the the 2* at this point. Given that they share the same ability cost, you should switch as soon as the powers are comparable or over the 2*.

    Thor's ability damage is far beyond what a normal 3* would have so the switch to him is a no brainer. Normally it takes around level 100-110 before the ability damage of comparable HP class 3* to pass up 2* in ability damage, and that's assuming you have the right covers (e.g. if your covers are 5 on blue for Psylocke, don't expect much ability damage of any kind).

    Who would you all say is the ideal 3* to pair with LT? My next highest is Hulk at level 102, but I would like to focus on an ideal partner assuming I can get the covers.

    Thor is generically powerful and doesn't really have anyone he synergizes better or worse with. Since Thunder Strike takes some time to come online you probably want someone who can acclerate AP, but then it's not like you'd ever purposely not have AP acceleration if it make sense to have it (OBW, The Hood, or Magneto being the most common choices).
