Final Fantasy or Dungeons and Dragons Online f

Help with online gaming gift? My sister wants Final Fantasy or Dungeons and Dragons Online for her b'day. I'd like to get it for her, but I am confused. How does it work(online gaming)? Aside from basic system requirements, what are the other requirements, if any? Are there monthly fees? I have also read something about mail forwarding? Is this contact from other users-she's only 16 and I'd rather her not be contacted by dirty old men in elf garb. Which brings me to my next concern- is online gaming relatively safe in comparison with say-myspace?

  • I'll assume you mean the Final Fantasy mmo which yes, does have a monthly fee. I've also heard that it's tougher to get into.

Dungeons & Dragons Online is s f2p mmo. It was p2p but switched to f2p as is the trend these days. It doesn't make much sense to give her a free game, though I suppose you could buy her iap. She should prolly play it first to see if she really likes it.

I play a lot of mmos and the biggest female player bases from my experience would be WoW and Perfect/Forsaken World. Anime ones seem popular too, like anything by Aeria. Some even have dating functions. Iirc mmos in general have higher female player bases comparitively to console games or fps/rts.

If she's new to mmos I'd honestly recommend WoW, an f2p, or GW2 (which isn't a typical mmo). GW2 btw is one of the few that has no monthly fees.

As for safety, the only way she would get her info compromised is if she tells it. Some (not really but games always remind you) scammers pretend to be game mods and ask for info, but as long as she doesn't fall for that she's okay.

No one really knows you're a girl unless you advertise it. I play girl characters and some initially ask if I'm a girl, but it's not really an issue. Yes, you can get free stuff for being a girl. If worst comes to worst, she can just lie and say she's a dude, but it's unecessary with ignore and report functions.

Oh and btw, WoW is f2p up to level 20. So she can try it and if she decides she likes it, you can get her a subscription. WoW is popular enough that you can get her gamecards bought instore rather than having to give Blizzard your credit card info.
  • I played Dungeons and Dragons Online for a while and I can say that it is a very good community provided you pick the right server - I recommend Thalanis. I played with a lot of random groups since our guild was small and I can honestly say that I never met a single person there that was offensive.
