Unstable ISO-8 (Moonstone) Rank Point Observations
I would have posted this in another thread. This information might be valuable. I want people to benefit from it. I noticed this behavior yesterday but I didn't want to say anything without offering times and point values. This supports the anecdotal evidence that others have reported. The rubber-banding effect of the point system makes it difficult to determine a pattern. At the #1 spot, I don't have that problem. Hopefully this will help you plan your weekend.
I'm currently waiting to see the max value of Crossing Borders.

Here are some conclusions
Each repeatable battle can be repeated 10 times for RED ISO. The math is screwed up in the game. It's not always the point value shown before the fight, it's not always the value in the point value awarded. The only score that matters is the one on the leaderboard.
There is a 2 hour gap between each fight.
It appears that points begin to accrue in reverse order.
West Coast Smugglers:
Base Point Value For Completing All 10 battles is 29
Border Crossing
Base Point Value For Completing All 10 battles is 45
(7:00)
1: 10
2: 9
3: 8
4: 7
5: 6
6: 5
7: 4
8: 3
9: 2
10: 1
(7:20)
After 2 hours the first fight is available
1: 1 (if you immediately go for it).
1: 10 (If you wait until the time it took for you to clear all the fights... 20 minutes)
So the most that can be earned in 4+ hours is 90 points, for this particular repeatable fight.
This is what I've found so far.0 -
i don't understand the point system too. should we wait for the last hour of each reset?0

MissMarvelBoobs wrote:i don't understand the point system too. should we wait for the last hour of each reset?
This is what I can tell you, from what I have learned.
After doing each repeatable 10 times
Note the time you completed the last battle
2 Hours after the last battle
Go back into the RED ISO fight and do the repeatables again
You will start earning Red ISO starting at the MAX ISO for that fight.
EDIT:
If you mean the rubber-banding. They normalize the points to help you catch up to the higher ranks. So if someone is 5000 points higher than you, then you ought to be getting a lot per fight, but as you get closer to their rank, you'll earn less. Don't wait for the last hour.0 -
So it's some kind of points recharge system.0
-
I think you could say that.
2 hours after your the last fight nets you 0, it will be fully charged. I am certain of that.0 -
If that's the case, it would be a good idea to figure out how long it takes each charge to come back. If they all take the same amount of time to recharge, you'd want to coast along only using the 1 maximum charge as it comes back for maximum points.0

Thanks Bugpop for doing the experiments. This is basically what I've found out myself and posted in the other thread but this one has the proof to back it up and some more details.
The timer starts from each fight you complete I believe. So 2 hours from the first one you complete will be when the first recharge will gain and 2 hours from the last one you complete will be when the last recharge is built. If you only want to do the mission when it is max value, that means you get that value every 2 hours.
I think it was kind of fun trying to figure this out ^^0 -

Still this is grindy and ridiculous. People are just throwing their time at each other in order to win at this tournament. If everyone would just agree to spend 50% of the effort they're currently putting in, everyone would be better off. But alas.0

Yeah, that's why I'm going to try to avoid a pissing contest. Thankfully there don't seem to be enough people in my bracket who are too desperate to get 500 HP and I'm staying within the top 50 quite easily.0 -

I just hope we don't wind up with a high-value repeatable at the end that invalidates prior effort.0 -

Seems to me the value that the mission shows before you start is the value you earned the previous time you did it, not the current one. I'm wondering if there isn't an error with the pointer to the mission stack somewhere so it is off by one spot.0 -

Indeed. I noticed at the screen showing you the points you were awarded, showing you your point total with the awarded points, that the point total isn't always the actual point total on the leaderboard. It's often off by one point.
For instance
On the award screen you have this:
+8
1250
On the leaderboard you have
12490 -

After a couple of days of playing I actually am starting to like this system .
From what I can tell now the repeatable missions do indeed have iterations as explained above, where each time you complete it a separate two hour timer starts (explaining why it sometimes happens that the mission goes up in value while you are playing, it just means that a reset happened of a higher point iteration).
The interesting thing is that the only ways I can see to maintain an edge is not to wait, but complete missions asap and then farm the repeatable every two hours as fast as you can (as that minimises the reset times). Happy to be proven wrong though, as people seem to be observe higher point values when behind the top ranks (I just don't see that myself)0
