Points not adding up correctly in LoT event

This event has pretty screwed up arithmetic!

Was at 1011 yesterday, and did a node that was valued at 13pts, but ended up with just 1019.
Shielded for the next few hours, then decided to do another node today.
This time, I hit one worth 12pts, and ended up with just 1023.

1011+13=1019?
1019+12=1023?

What the heck???!!!!???
I should already be at 1036.

Just want to be clear that these weren't "saved up" nodes, but newly refreshed ones after a few skips.
If you really don't want us going after the 1100 reward, better to just not put it there anymore.

  • I'm sure more experienced players (and forum contributors) could explain this better than me, but here's my take :

The amount of points a win is worth is dependent on the opponents *actual* score in the PvP. If they lose points to other teams (offence and defence) while you're playing their AI defence team, then you will get less points than you were shown. The points are calculated behind the scenes, and NOT displayed on the screen you see when you win a match. This means that you need to check the leaderboard to find your new, real, score.

Which brings me to the other common cause of "incorrect" scores in PvP. The servers. Apparently those hamsters are not the best at communicating with each other. When the servers are overworked (close to the end of an event, for example), some details don't get visibly updated as they're supposed to. Players have been attacked, and defeated, but not notified due to server lag. The other big issue is the display scores (on the event tile as well as the event battle screen) become stuck. They have trouble updating, so the best way to see your actual score is to check it on the event leaderboards. Clicking the tabs there seems to force a mini refresh. Unfortunately this will not update for any defensive wins/losses that are delayed in a major server lag, but it's the best we've found so far.

I am familiar with the behind the scenes computation.
However, I would expect a newly refreshed node won't be losing points so soon.
Also, it's a little too convenient that the nodes I hit hours apart happen to lose points while I am attacking.

Oh, and this scoring thing is the least of things pi$$ing me off now.
I just got hit with Cold Snap within the first 3 turns, then 2 consecutive Call the Storms.
How in the bloody hell did that happen?!?
Scale the heck out of me, and kill my mmr to increase difficulty.
But, using cheat mechanics to do so is downright despicable!
  • Sorry for telling you the obvious then, I should have realised from your score alone that you're not new to this!

I've sometimes had freshly queued nodes give a lot less points than expected, but put that down to playing in busy times. I've lost 600-100 points many times coming out of a match, that's enough to dramatically change the points others would win from me. I've noticed that when I lose points due to attacks, the nodes I have queued to play jump up in points by anywhere from 2-6 points if I lose 20 points or less @ 800-900 points - I wonder if that might account for the discrepancies you've had? The tourney is busy because of season 2 as well as having Hood rewards, so it's possible both players were freshly attacked while you were playing them. It still sucks, but at least would mean MPQ hasn't grown yet another ridiculous bug...

The way scoring works for PvP really does need to be overhauled : players should not be left thinking the game has cheated because one screen shows a win for # points giving ## total, but the leaderboard shows a very different ## total. Even when there is no server lag, the point discrepancies will still occur - and that's just silly.

Anyway, I'm sorry this happened to you, and hope you don't have anymore issues with points or AI (... that Cold Snap thing is just crazy @.@).
