PvE just keeps getting better
You know what I think the single coolest thing about this PvE was? You could reasonably hit 25000 points by about halfway-3/4ths through it without the required hero for the best nodes. And at 25000 points, you got a cover for the required hero. Meaning that everyone stood something of a chance, if they worked for it, of getting access to the top nodes, and therefore access to high scores.
Another great thing about this PvE? There are a lot of nodes that are almost as good as the required hero nodes. Sure, Coffee Break and Peek A Boo are really, really great nodes, but there are quite a few other 1000-pointers that you don't need Hulk for, and while they're harder, they should be doable. So not only did you make it easier to get the required hero, you made it less reliant on the required hero to score well. That's awesome. Granted, no storm at the end means that some people won't get the cover, but at least it's not like many previous PvEs where if you didn't have the mandatory covers, you were just boned, or at least had to work several times as hard.
The inclusion of countdown timers is a great step forward as well - even if it isn't just for this one, it's good to have.
All in all, I really liked this PvE. Credit where credit is due. Now if only bullseye wasn't such a colossal pain in the taint.

I'd like some of what you're having please. Still, nice try at a positive thread.

I just really like the reward structuring where you can reasonably get the required hero via progression before it's too late to do anything with them. It's really great.0

Getting Hulk cover was way, way too easy, but better than it being impossible I guess. Not sure it can be called the top progression award though when everyone gets it halfway through the event.
The patch increasing the difficulty halfway through the event (with no notice) was silly.
The main branch opening up with missions, making the first two days play largely worthless was silly.
I agree on the nodes thing though. I have enjoyed the battles in this and the Sentry event more than the previous bunch for sure.0 -
See, that's the thing - the hulk cover being easy means everyone gets to play.0

when you say it like that.. I like the event better now
I had Hulk so it wasn't a problem, but as you said, for someone who didn't have him, this event was great, not only did he get a new cover, he could also do the best missions and score decent points in the event.. makes sense.. give everyone a fighting chance..
but still, I would like the top progression reward to be something better, something you don't get in the first few days of the event. I missed a few days of playing and don't have a chance of getting my own storm, so now i don't have a reason to play in pve at all.. aside from helping my alliance; if there were more progression rewards I would gladly play the pve till it's over0 -
I have no issue with people getting a Hulk cover early on so they can be involved, but having a top progression award that is handed out to most with over 50% of the event still left to play? It's silly. Should have just had another 3/4 progression awards after that. I'm at 100k points now and Hulk was given out at, what, 25K? Crazy.0

I like that all of the progression rewards were reachable but I'd prefer they structured this a bit better. There should have been progression rewards reachable at the end of the event.0

The grinding on PvEs has gotten to the point where I really only bother with them for progression rewards and the sake of my alliance, but, yes - this is a really good point.0

Having attainable progression goals is a good thing. Having progression goals you can reach before the event is even halfway done isn't. Where is the motivation to keep playing? Sure, there is a new character to go after in this event, but quite often the rewards are covers you may already have. If you don't need or want the placement awards, you often need to progression goals to give you the motivation to carry on playing. That isn't the case here and it's not a good thing.
If the idea is to give a cover of the required character, just put it on one of the lower progression rewards. That makes far more sense.0 -
I agree that it's odd to cut off the rewards so early... I'm just really happy about that low-challenge hulk cover. If it was always like this - that you could bust your **** to get the character you (and let's be honest here) really need to have to place well... Well, a lot more people would probably be happy with PvE. That's my main thing.0

I'm not entirely sure that this was "as intended".
My cynical side tells me they just miscalculated how quickly the event bar would be filled and it got filled during the weekend so my train of thought tells me that no one was in the office to push the button that would double the "intel collected" bar point requirement as they did for a previous PvP.
But I hope this was all done intentionally and that they wanted us to get that Hulk cover easily.
But I wouldn't say that an easy Hulk beats a free Sentry in terms "PvE keeps getting better". A free new character at the end of a week long PvE is the bar they've set for Awesome PvE in my book. I flipped out when I got the free Sentry.0 -
If everyone was supposed to get a Hulk so they could do certain nodes then
YOYOYOYOY
...not just give it out as the reward for completing the first node? Then actually have top progression reward as, you know, reward for significant progression.0 -
This insane mindless grindfest is considered "better"? Please describe the plan for the win please.
It's something like: play these 6-7 nodes every 2.5 h for 3 days straight, ignore all the rest. Last minute play them all 5x more. That is what? 35 repeats of the same battle x that 6-7.
Why have 6 subs if they can be completely ignored?
Yes, the idea of constant node heal is good -- but the rate itself is bad. Either a play should take 50% instead of 20 or the restore rate reduced to like 1/4. And on main table we should have way less repeatable nodes to start with.0
