Still No Fix For Broken MMR and "Gentle Nudge(TM)"

I'm curious if there is any plan to get the MMR to a remotely reasonable place... It usually takes me 100-200 iso worth of skips to find someone without 141 LazyThor / 141 Mags/Panther / 212 featured, even though I only have one level 141 character. (I haven't bothered getting more than about 300 points in a pvp event in season 2, since it takes 1000 in any of my 'gentle nudge(TM)' brackets to get a top 50 finish.)
The 'gentle nudge(TM)' is just astounding... joining the pve at 1d18h left should probably NOT put you into a half-filled bracket that started day 1... I reached 50 points (or 30 / whatever the first mission is worth) to see 76k leaders... So no Storm for me.

  • Duh, you're supposed to be spending all your spare time playing full matches with your weaker characters so they die enough to lower your MMR. Having a wife, kids and a demanding job means that I enjoy the simple pleasures of suiciding 20 of my roster during the time I have free.

That no longer effects your (pvp) MMR...
  • Hi. So u expected a brand new storm by entering with under two days to go, when most have been grinding since the start?...

Retreating might not, but from the start of this current PvP I faced 212, 141 opponents until I suicided my roster 2 or 3 times against them and now I'm facing lv85-lv121 range most frequently. Last PvP I didn't do that and I got WTFsmashed all over the shop and peaked at 650 points (compared to my usual 850-900).

The way it [used to] work was that prizes were hypothetically based on amount of effort per unit time from the time you entered an event. Meaning: brackets used to be filled based on WHEN you entered (a 2000 person bracket was filled by 2000 people entering and a new bracket opened)... NOW, they only partially fill and you're placed into brackets according to (roughly) your start-date in the game.
The [presumed] intent is to limit the free covers to long-time players, since fewer vets get free covers, because D3 somehow thinks this will encourage further spending on their once fun game, but instead [as any reasonable person would assume] it is contributing to a further spree of people leaving the game.

2 full roster suicides later, still seeing all 212/141/141 squads... But so be it, my Patch already has 5 yellow, so this pvp wasn't going to get me anything new without hitting 1300 points for a top 10 finish.

Is this statement simply exaggeration for dramatic effect? Even during the points-grabbing frenzy of Season 1, the worst bracket I experienced was where my 1004 got me #19. I was in a Forumite Bracket of Sadface for the recent Sentry-awarding PVP, and even in that hellscape, #10 was at around 1050. Aside from that one event, every other S2 bracket I've been in has had a sub-1000 #10.
  • The problem is not that people don't want to work for covers, but that as you play, the covers get harder to get, until you get a serious roster.

I've gotten myself to three 141s (the three I got covers for), but that means Lazy Cap, Punisher Patch, which isn't exactly a balanced team. Unless one of the three is the featured character, I am, at best, playing 2v3, because most of the enemy pool does have the featured character maxed out, and mine has few covers.

A month ago, with a 3 85 team, I was in fair fights most of the time, so effort meant 3-5 3* covers a week from pvp. Now it's not uncommon for me to get teamwiped, so while before I could just grind 300 points in a few minutes, now it takes forever. So my effort nets less, so I play less. In season 1, I got a top 100 score. Now I'll barely squeak by the 5000 point reward.

At the very least, PvP tournaments should take into consideration the level of the boosted character's roster.
