Allow the option to turn off the attack animations.

Just as the title suggests. It would be nice to have an option to turn off the attack animations. It drags the matches on, and watching the same thing over and over when you are just trying to play through as many matches in a set amount of time is pointless and sometimes annoying.

IceIX addressed this one recently. Basically, they have a lot of people spending a lot of hours designing them, and everyone will turn them off making that work useless. So they're not going to.
  • Yeah. I would love to be able to turn off the animations at night while I am playing in bed. During the day it doesn't bother me so much. But at night, it is WAY to bright-white-flashy for me.

Can we at least turn off the Call the Storm animation then? Because I *really* doubt a lot of hours went into that one.

Im not in favor of turning off the animations. I have been playing this game since last year and still like it when they come out. I might be one of the few tho...

The suggestion is to allow the option to turn off the attack animations. If you like them, then keep them on; if you don't, turn them off. Can't see how it is a negative.

Everyone would turn them off bc they would feel like they are at a disadvantage by keeping them on. Developers would work for nothing then. This would also lead to wanting to get rid of all animation sequences in order to squeeze in as many games as possible. This is why I think it is a bad idea.

Then the developers should work on game play features rather than animations that a lot of people don't want. There are multiple reasons why the animations are annoying, shouldn't they be trying to make the game more pleasant? Happy gamers = more likely to spend money.

If people are worried about advantages for those that turn off the animation, simply add a delay equal to the animation time. i.e. turning them off won't speed up the game, but will allow us to avoid headaches, eye strain, etc.
  • I totally agree, I've made a post like this few weeks ago :

If the animations are causing unhappy gamers headaches and eyestrains I suggest those players not play so often. Relax and play the game a little more casually. No need to get headaches over a F2P game.

You make an excellent point, but my point is some of us will just stop playing all together or be frustrated and not spend cash. You can't play this game competitively and get rewards to advance without some effort. I would love to play this game more casually, but won't get anywhere if I do. Adding a simple feature to retain more players and have them at your game for longer periods can only increase the chance for them to spend more money.

Why would everyone turn them off? The hardcore people will continue to play as they do and the more casual players will do the same. The game is already limited by the amount of time people can play due to the schedules and responsibilities. If player A can't play as much as player B because of work, should this be limited in some way? Giving the option to turn off attack animations will not change the game.
  • I got another issue with this. I play on the iPod 4th gen and the animation makes moves that change the board a lot like Thor and hulks green extremely laggy, almost to the point of crashing.

I don't know on what device you play, mobile or PC. I play on mobile, especially on my tablet, in my bedroom, in the dark because my wife is willing to sleep while I play. In those conditions, eyestrains and headaches come really quickly, even if you play casually (15 min is enough).

i know I can stop playing (or quit my wife to play with light on icon_twisted.gif ), but i would prefer to have a static pictures rather than a flashing animation. For me the worst are Storm (C or M) and cMag. When I cast, I close the eyes ...

And what about epileptic people ?

I play on my iPhone. It's an old phone an gets laggy also. I have to make sure my other apps are off.
I play at night also and I turn down the brightness all the way.
  • Sure D3 have worked on the animations a lot but if they want to have bright flashy stuff, they should introduce a warning at the start of the game about it like a proper game does. Or give us the ability to turn off or reduce bright effects because I too get headaches.

I generally have to turn my head away when a power is activated.

Same for me on android, but with an app called "screen filter" to reduce more the brightness. But it doesn't do anything for the flashing ...
