Diminishing Value of 3*

So I wasn't going to bother trying with this newest PVE event but then I saw the new lazy storm and got excited as she was one of my favourite characters throughout 1* and even in to 2*.

After grinding through the first round my interested suddenly bottomed out. Firstly because the event ends at the usual 5am so there goes any hope of getting lazy storm. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, is the perception that 3* is maybe not something to bother aiming for anymore.

I mean where is the incentive in spending months trying to build up your 3* army if you are using lazy thor/daken/storm/cap? essentially working my **** off to get a 1* character and two 2* characters.

The more we see 1 and 2 star characters lazily re-skinned as 3* the less they valued as something to aspire to. I mean I know the character selection is a mess but surely the whole point of grinding for months is to build your 3* roster, not a 1* roster? otherwise... why bother grinding at all? Just get a couple 1* and 2* characters and stop there you've seen it all already.

  • As has been pointed out before, the devs often 'look at the numbers' and let it inform their decisions.

    So, I'm assuming they looked at the amount of people that played Modern Storm and thought she was very popular because she was fun to play. Not taking into account that she was popular because of the limited amount of adequate 1* characters (and 2* characters for that matter) and the broken nature of some of their environmental tiles.

    So, it was actually the deficiencies in their game (they haven't corrected yet) that caused her popularity, not because of the novelty of her moveset.
  • I don't have a usable 3* yet but several between level 80 and 60 and a whole lot below level 40. Playing casually without paying there is no possibility of having a usable 3* character in the near future when the odds for pulling them from cover rewards is so low. Thus, I'm not really sure I want her in my roster. Having already achieved all of the progression rewards in PvE doesn't help either.

    This time top progression points were kept purposefully low I suppose since some people were complaining devs were putting in unreachable progression rewards.

    Don't give them too much credit...the last TaT progression was like this too.
