Game freezes while in a match then screen begins strobing

This has happened about 1/2 dozen times over the last two days. I’m on an iPhone 12 running iOS 26.2. MPQ app is up to date.

When this happens I have no option other than to force close the app which affects my characters just as retreating from a match does.

Is there are particular point in the game freeze happens more often/consistently?
i.e Middle of the match, switching back from another app, after a win, start of a match while the board tiles are loading, etc.

The freezing has been ongoing for 6 months now:
    Bug Megathread
"Game freezes, thus you are forced to quit the app."

"Game board flashes or switches to black"
strobing is unique to iOS 26, and has been occurring for the last few months, since its release.

Not better on Steam right now: energy input very high according to task manager, no other program running and game still barely working.

It got better and now it’s happening every other round

At least on my phone, it often completely locks my phone up. I can’t even power down. My only recourse for recovery is to hold volume and power for a few seconds for a system interruption

Obviously this is not great and runs the possibility of accidentally calling emergency services

I assume this is iOS 26. If so, you can change what calls emergency services in the settings. Because of what you described, I changed it to 5 rapid taps on the power button instead because I was worried I would accidentally call emergency 911 like you…

Thanks,I just did that this. What a ridiculous situation to find ourselves in.

IMO, this should be the number one thing for the new team to address
