MMR problems

I have 5 2*'s at 85 obw, thor, ares, magneto and storm.

In pvp in run obw/thor or obw/ares like pretty much every other 2* team. I have been averaging 800 in pvp for season 2. Currently sitting at 8329 points in season 2 which is #39.

I also recently got a few doom covers (4/4) and levelled him to 89 (soft cap).

Normally I fight teams of 85's but in the latest pvp event (sentry) I have been coming across 115/85 teams from the start. Almost half my matches were teams with one character over 100, which means I had to skip A LOT! got attacked quite a bit from 141's and other teams with 100+ characters from the start so it has clearly put me in an mmr with them as usually those kind of teams only seem to attack me when I get a lot higher.

I still managed to get to 800 but it took about twice as long not to mention I had to waste quite a bit of iso finding teams I could have a chance against.

What caused me to suddenly be matched against these 100+ teams? the fact I now have a character over 85? or because I have been doing decently in pvp (for my roster anyway).

Really rather frustrating...

I believe that leveling your Doom has did cause this. I saw the same thing when I leveled my Ragnarok from 77 to 89. But I found when I only used my regular 2* teams in PvP my MMR settled back down. So now I mostly see 2x85 teams, and only the occasional 100+/85 combo (at least until I hit 700 or so, and then anything is fair game).

The MMR issue is a matter of saturation. As far as I can tell, since people of all kinds of roster complain about MMR sucks it must be actually working pretty well. Currently, despite people claiming to be quiting left and right, the game seems to be doing better than ever, which means the game has no problem of finding at least 100 guys who are equally as strong as you (or stronger). You need to finish in top 10% to get a 3* cover. If the game has no problem finding 100 guys that are as strong as you, then you basically have to finish in top 10% out of that 100 guys. Since all these guys are exactly as strong as you, you only have 10% chance of doing that. In the past, when there are relatively few players with maxed out roster, even having say Doom at 110 and OBW at 85 could be considered as a sizeable advantage, but that time is long gone now. The game, at all levels of competition, have no problem finding players as strong as you now and outside of shields, there's no way to break away in any meaningful capacity.

I have no problem facing people as strong as me but when the game is trying to match me up with people who are a lot stronger than me it really saps the enjoyment out of the game. A large proportion of my match-ups were 115/85 teams or even 141/85 teams. Whilst not impossible to beat they are very risky and time consuming.

I have doom at 89, five 85 2*'s and the rest of my 3stars are level 50 or lower.

Do you see matchup against teams that are 85/85? That'd be weaker than your team and I'm pretty sure the game would consider that to be balance out your 141/85. Whether that actually works, I have no idea, but from an algorithm point of view that's about all they can do.

I don't have a 141/85 team? Like I said my highest character is level 89 doom and after that it's 85 2* guys.

89 doom really isn't any stronger than 2*'s. If anything he is weaker. I def wouldn't use him over thor/ares/obw.

I used him in a couple of matches in the S.H.I.E.L.D simulator to try him out and am regretting that decision lol.

Sure, 89 Doom isn't stronger than most 85 2*, but the game likely doesn't know that and can only assume higher level = stronger.

I suspect the system tries to find a range of opponents equal/above/below you, but given PvP hands out 2* covers like candy, it's got to be awfully hard for the system to find anyone weaker than 85/85.

I Don't expect it to find me weaker teams but when the system assumes because I have a character over 85 I can fight 115/85 and 141/85 teams, then the system is clearly broken.

Like I said I dun goofed and regret levelling a character over 85 (even just 4 levels above). But why would this game punish me for levelling my characters. It just defies logic.

I'm literally using the same team I have used in every season 2 pvp tournament (thor/obw or arees/obw) but this one has been an absolute nightmare. Hopefully as the first reply said my mmr should go back to facing mostly 85/85 teams but not holding my breath. When a large proportion of my games are teams I have no hope of beating the game becomes even more annoying....

141/85 aren't really that hard in the general sense. Problem is that the 141 you're seeing is likely not GSBW or IM40 but rather Thor or Punisher.

The game seriously lacks a more granular level of roster strength.

The problem is I might be able to beat a 141/85 team but even if I win there is a large chance I will take a lot of damage or even lose a character or two. Thus having to use more health packs. The cost of health packs is beyond a joke so i'm limited to my 5 health packs in my push to 800 and any hope of a 3* cover. Not to mention 141's have more hp so the fights take an awful lot longer, thus opening me up to getting attacked more.

Also these 141/85 teams were able to see me even at low points so it made the climb doubly hard. It was a very frustrating climb.

I've got people with featured character/85/85 hitting my featured character/141/141 or 141/85, winning quite easily most of the time since I lost lots of 40 points to them. I've also had defensive losses against featured character/not maxed ***/85 combinations.

Maybe the game is nudging you to buy a Doom cover and have it maxed, or nudging you to level more *** covers.
