I’m out

I’m finally stepping off the treadmill!

It’s been a fun 11 years and I have no regrets over the time or money spent. It’s been a great ride and honestly was a great game once upon a time. I haven’t updated to the new engine yet (so have exploited no tokens, DAZ) but I’m just not interested in supporting this development team or version of the game. I’ve not loved many of the decisions made of late but was bearing with them because I wanted to see what quality of life changes the new engine would bring. I think if there was more goodwill built I’d be willing to “ride it out” with the rest of you. I hope for your sakes it does get better (and I’m sure it will) as the game and community obviously holds a special place in my heart.

I have to say, as someone who struggles with ADHD, I am shocked that anything can hold my attention for more than five minutes, let alone 11 years. I don’t want to say “retire” because I could always come back. But one thing I know about myself, typically once I put something down, I tend not to pick it back up.

So, to whoever it is who takes my spot on the leaderboards, congratulations :)

Sorry to see one of this community's great contributors stepping away. In over 4000 posts, you've kept a level head better than anybody else I can recall in this filthy swamp full of poorly formed arguments while engaging in nearly every conversation.

I have a feeling many others were letting the new engine be the final factor before stepping away, and many similar losses are coming.

That is exactly what I'm doing.

I wish you all the very best for the future @Daredevil217 and I hope one day you play a DPD or two before getting hooked again. You will be very much missed here.

I am truly saddened to see you leave DD. Perhaps the devs can reel you back in with a truly ultimate Daredevil character or redesign.

It was a pleasure being alliance-mates with you for many of those years. Good luck! I may be following you out the door soon. Who knows?

This clunky update has me questioning how long I'll play too. It's not the bugs, it's the regular battles with jumpy characters, tile movement, going in and out of battles. It's not smooth anymore. If they don't fix that, I'm out too

Lousy new characters, ZERO comms, no new stories, Quality of game "in process", I can´t find a good reason to stay.
Have been playing less and less everyday, I´m on my way out as well

I also heavily relied on your character analysis when I was moving into 4* and 5* land.

Thank you for all of that effort.

I haven't updated yet and really hope iOS never makes me do it. I am dreading what is coming and am right with Daredevil217 and others. This update is really taking away an incredible game and ripping apart a community. Really don't want to leave after 12 years but if the game is as bad as they are saying (and why on earth release it if you knew it was bad?) I just don't have the patience.

There are very varied reports on performance at the moment. I have had no real issues at all, bar one time it got stuck and I had to force close it. That happened with the previous engine too though. I lost saved teams, which was a minor annoyance.

Others have experienced serious problems, though so it seems to be luck of the device or settings? From what I'm told the team are working really hard on trying to make it better for everyone and hopefully since of the main issues can be solved sooner rather than later.

My concern is what the Devs think is "acceptable". Sure, I haven't had too many game crashing bugs, but every Single Graphical thing breaks, every time. Multiple of the same character loading in, cover mismatch (a pulled cover turns into another). Jankly scrolling. Slow loading times.

The list is literally endless. Nothing is at good as it was before. Every component of the game is worse, and needs work.

Great, they're fixing game breaking bugs. If the graphical state it's in now is acceptable, then this game won't survive.

The only thing that matters is what YOU consider acceptable.

I'm not bothered by any of the stuff you mentioned, but everyone is different. If enough people walk away, they'll change something. Or maybe they won't! We can only choose to keep playing or not.

Thanks. I really do appreciate the comments. I'm going to hold out as long as possible and hope for the best. I love this game so much and really don't want to see it die because of a platform port.

From the last 24 hours my experience seems to be telling me that the newer the device you are playing on, the better the game performs. I tried again on my tablet this morning and though it was laggy I did manage to finish two DDQ battles without being chucked out and the game is getting better. On my Chromebook it runs smooth as you like, virtually no lag and no art duplication - I don't even get the effect where it looks like just team ups and yellow tiles fall at start of match. There is still a slight freeze after you win a match where you wonder if the game is making its mind up whether to crash or not but it seems to be co-operating. On top of that yesterday I played the repeatable Crash on my tablet and won but Karnak also shattered MPQ and chucked me out. There goes my LT I figured but when I opened the game again and played the other Crash node it gave me two LT's. So the game is still keeping track of what it owes you even as it ruins your experience. Small measures I guess but at least something.

Fair play, you had a good run. My last straw was the PvP supports, I barely play at all now. Had some great fun and met some cool people (virtually) but it just gets too in the way of life eventually. Enjoy your free time - don’t mess up and fill it up with another game fella 🤣
