For most people in the planes Grist visits, she is an event, a flash of light in the sky that precedes a swarm of voracious insects that consumes everything in its path, be it plant life, be it animal life, be it sentient life. And with the same ominous flash of light the swarm vanishes to another plane, ready to consume again.

Grist, the Hunger Tide is a Black and Green planeswalker available for purchase and selection from Tarkir: Dragonstorm. Her abilities will allow you to:

  • Sacrifice a creature to generate resources.
  • Bury cards and wake up a creature to destroy an opposing support.
  • Bury more cards, injure your opponent and gain mana equal to the amount of cards in your graveyard.

  • Ability 1 - Swarm of Vermins (Cost 04)
    • Level 1: You may destroy target nonToken creature you control. If you do: Create a Golgari Insect Token. Then: Reinforce it 2 times.
    • Level 2: You may destroy target nonToken creature you control. If you do: Create a Golgari Insect Token. Reinforce it 2 times. Then: Convert a gem to Loyalty gem.
    • Level 3: You may destroy target nonToken creature you control. If you do: Create a Golgari Insect Token. Reinforce it 3 times. Then: Convert a gem to Loyalty gem.
    • Level 4: You may destroy target nonToken creature you control. If you do: Create a Golgari Insect Token. Reinforce it 3 times. Then: Convert 3 gems to Loyalty gems.

  • Ability 2 - Mouths of Subsistence (Cost 08)

    • Level 1: Destroy the top card of your library. Return the first Creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
    • Level 2: Destroy the top 2 cards of your library. Return the first Creature card from your graveyard to your hand. Destroy an opposing nonToken support at random.
    • Level 3: Destroy the top 3 cards of your library. Return the first Creature card from your graveyard to your hand. Destroy an opposing nonToken support at random.
    • Level 4: Destroy the top 4 cards of your library. Return the first Creature card from your graveyard to your hand. Destroy an opposing nonToken support at random. This effect can affect Vanguards.

  • Ability 3 - The Ultimate Leech (Cost 18)

    • Level 1: Destroy the top 4 cards of your library. Your opponent loses X life. X is the number of cards in your graveyard, up to 20.
    • Level 2: Destroy the top 6 cards of your library. Your opponent loses X life. X is the number of cards in your graveyard, up to 30.
    • Level 3: Destroy the top 8 cards of your library. Your opponent loses X life. Gain X mana. X is the number of cards in your graveyard, up to 40.
    • Level 4: Destroy the top 10 cards of your library. Your opponent loses X life. Gain X mana. X is the number of cards in your graveyard, up to 50.
