The question below includes Daredevil (King of the Fist) but nothing that follows.

With 6 colors and 3 slots, there are 120 possible builds*. What 2 builds could be added to the game and thereby finish off all the possibilities for one color?

(Please list the 2 builds as the first thing in your comment below in the format of top/middle/bottom, as I use in my examples below)

  • A build is a specific pattern of three colors - so Red/Blue/Yellow is a different build from Blue/Yellow/Red.

I’m not sure I understand the question. What do you mean finish off? Do you mean every possible combination of that one color in each position with every other color also in each position?

OK, so I'm not the only one confused by the question. I clicked on the link thinking it would be trivia but instead it seems like a logic puzzle that I don't quite understand.

    Correct.

    To try to explain further....

There are 20 possible builds with Orange in the top slot, another 20 with Orange in the middle slot, and another 20 with Orange in the bottom slot. (For those who want to understand the math - once the first color is selected, the second slot has 5 possibilities and the third slot then has 4 possibilities, therefore there are 20 possibilities of a build given one specific color in one specific slot).

For one color, 58 of these 60 possibilities exist and 2 are missing. The question is looking for you to provide those 2 missing builds.

Well it's "Stats" trivia. Because I'm a database guy.

That said, I'm also a comic book guy so I'll try to work that in as well

So is the question specific to Marvel Puzzle Quest, or just a question in general about colors and builds? I'm still super confused about what is meant by "missing builds". Missing from what?
The Marvel Puzzle Quest game? Or just theoretically?

Totally sure it's my cluelessness, but I'm just not understanding the question.

If I understand the question correctly...

Are the two missing ones -
    -- Green, yellow, red
    -- blue, black, yellow

It is specific to Marvel Puzzle Quest. And I apologize if any of what follows sounds like I'm talking down, but I'm trying to make sure I explain the question completely for any level of person who plays this game. (If you do NOT play this game, then these questions are really not going to be something you'll be in any position to answer)

There are 6 colors for each power - Black, Blue, Green, Purple, Red, and Yellow. Each character has 3 slots (top/middle/bottom) and each slot is a different color. So each character has a "build" from their top color to their bottom color. For example, Captain America (Steve Rogers) is a Yellow/Red/Blue build. And this is a different build from Thor (The Mighty Thor) who has a Red/Blue/Yellow build.

So, imagine there are 2 lists - Builds That Exist (BTE) and Builds That Don't Exist Yet (BTDEY). Between the 2 lists, all 120 possible Builds are listed. And, as of this writing, each of the 6 colors appears somewhere on the BTDEY list.

There are TWO specific builds from the BTDEY list that, if they were represented in the game, would mean that all occurrences of one particular color would be on the BTE list.

The question is - what are those 2 builds?

Thanks! Happened to catch this at the onset, and I kinda have some sort of weird trivia like memory for characters colors in the game. A few sets of them rattled around my head when I read the question -- as in, "hey, HAVE I ever seen THIS combo before??"

Its one of those things where you tell yourself "Okay... cool... glad to know I allocated some of my brain space to THAT tidbit of trivia..." :|

So @PiMacleod is partially correct, but not fully.

There are 9 builds currently missing:

    • Blue-Black-Yellow
    • Black-Yellow-Blue
    • Green-Purple-Blue
    • Green-Yellow-Red
    • Purple-Green-Red
    • Yellow-Black-Green
    • Yellow-Red-Green
    • Yellow-Green-Black
    • Yellow-Green-Red

    Colors are represented:
    4 * Black
    3 * Blue
    7 * Green
    2 * Purple
    4 * Red
    7 * Yellow

That means if we were to have Green-Purple-Blue and Purple-Green-Red added into the game, then every possible iteration of Purple would be included.

    No winners this week.

    OOOOOOooooooohhhh...

I totally stopped before the "...for one color..." part. I just figured two that were missing, and rolled with it. Didn't go farther after figuring that out; assuming that was what you were looking for.

    My bad!
