I often wonder how many people are here because of Marvel. I personally just loved PQ since earliest days on PSP and couldn't care less about the characters the abilities are tied to.

So please vote and feed the curiosity! I even made it anonymous so you can't get called out.

One night, many years ago, a man…..

    Oh, you didn’t mean that.

    Marvel! I like Marvel!

Both. I've been a comic book and marvel fan since I was a kid and I loved the original puzzle quest when I played it so this was a great mash up for me.

The only reason I played it was because I like Puzzle Quest 1 and 2 so much.

I will go on record as voting for Marvel.

I definitely wouldn't have played it as long as I have had they gone with a different IP. I haven't played the original Puzzle Quest but I am interested in checking it out someday as I have only heard good things about it and my experiences playing this game have been mostly positive.

    Don't forget Galactrix!!!

    Alot to unpack.
!. I miss the minigames and crafting. MPQ went in a different direction gameplay wise, and I think they really missed the boat on those "puzzle style quests" Yes, we have the puzzle quest event every season, but thats only been the last 4/5 years. This is something that could have been embraced from the begining.
    2. At first I missed the the rpg elements of building chars and spells. But overall, MPQ has a far more robust and developed in-match "gameplay" putting aside all the mephisto bugs and player base complaints about supports, powers and damage. Compared to PQ1 and PQ2. MPQ has much better developed gameplay with many different approaches to success. and that's independent of the "social infrastructure" that players developed around the t25 environments.
    3. While I do think the gameplay is relatively refined. I also think the match concept is getting stale and tired. Specifically compare this to galactrix that would change the orientation of the board and the direction of gravity.

Overall I do think MPQ is the better game, but I miss alot of those old mechanics and gameplay loops.

    Yup. Exactly this.

Although of course the core gameplay is engaging enough to also keep me here (and the community!)

Marvel, but that's admittedly mostly nostalgia from old comics.

I've got boxes of old Avengers, WC Avengers, Iron Fist, Punisher, Daredevil, etc. Hawkeye was a father figure to me and nothing will ever change that.

This is the only matching game I've ever stuck with beyond a day.

Puzzle Quest. Even if the game had different characters (like rival DC), I would still have played.

Marvel. I am an old school comic book reader (as far back as I can remember).

I wish they also had a DC version of this game.

I really liked Galactrix. But I can't imagine how many players heads would explode trying to make match 3s on a Hexagon board where direction of tile movement mattered for new gem fall.

Unfortunately the rest of Galactrix was much weaker (storyline, mini-games) than PQ (esp with the expansion) and probably on par with PQ2 (which I didn't like since it was just a dungeon crawl). I also played (beta tested ) Infinite Interactive's other games like Puzzle Kingdoms, Puzzle Chronicles and NeoPets.

Puzzle Kingdoms had a lot of potential if it had gotten an actual AI that fought back instead of a static map you just conquered (its the closest in similarity to MPQ because battles were multiple characters on each side).

    Glactrix was bad.
If you all liked it cool, but generally the gameplay wasn't fun.
Some people did like it, but honestly it was a hot turd.
Not to mention the story was almost impossible to understand.
I put about 8 hours in it and I want the 8 hours back.

They do have a DC match 3 game. Search DC heroes and villains match 3 on the app store. I haven't played it, so don't know how it compares.

It was so hard to figure out the final quests. basically just sped rush around the galaxy. parts really felt like the STAR Control II planet mining tasks. but the ship construction had the char building aspects. Def some gameplay elements were better than others.

There was a really well done mod made by myself and another player for Galactrix that helped make smaller ships viable (otherwise it was just get the biggest ship possible). Not sure if it's still available but it would only be for PC version.

I voted both. The guy who got me into this game started during the first week of the game; I was close behind. He and I were working together for a gaming company with a comic book licensed game (it has both DC and Marvel characters). Some of the products we made would get covers or power names and you can find ones in that game that use the cover and sometimes the names of things from PQ.

Anyway, while the Marvel characters drew me in, the game itself has kept me going for 10+ years (today is day 4,138). I've played quite a few other comic book licensed phone games and none of them have been able to keep me engaged like MPQ.

Do you work for Sony? It's only just recently stopped them from releasing movies that have very little to do with the characters

I wanted a Bejeweled type game I could play on my phone while waiting during my wife's medical appointments. I'm more of a DC guy, but they didn't have one, so Marvel gets my time.
