I see, well it makes a lot of sense in some ways to delay ascension if he is going to be altered. Of course it would have made an equal amount of sense to course correct even harder than they did but hey to the ho.

Actually I appreciate the mild course correction from 5 to 8 AP. If (when) it changes again I hope it's another minor correction to something like 12 AP and then if a further adjustment needed to 15 or 18 and so on.

The previous Devs went WAY overboard on the nerf hammer and that really put a sour taste in players mouths regarding future nerfs to the point where you can't even mention one without a 1000 page thread against the idea of any nerfs.

So mild corrections gives hope that future nerfs will be done in the same manner so that characters aren't completely ruined by needed balance adjustments.

This is normal -- I always forget, but there is a delay between characters going into tokens and being eligible for ascension.

I agree that this is how they should be doing balance, but they've shown no inclination to do it this way in the past. Ideally you make a small move, evaluate and then revisit if necessary. They don't seem to be interested in the "revisit" part though, which is probably why they tend to bring the hammer down so hard.

If this is the start of them doing it that way, great!

They haven't nerfed anyone in a very long time before this, and only very rarely adjust characters one way or the other outside the scheduled rebalance once a season, since I returned about 18 months ago.

However, back a long time ago.....probably around 2017-18 ish maybe? Maybe earlier?....they used to include some character updates in the revisions every 2 weeks, usually minor ones.

Why? Maybe because there were fewer characters so some tweaks seemed more impactful to the game overall. Maybe because the staff was bigger (different developer) or their approach was different or something.

I believe now that they have specific projects/tasks they are fairly limited to when working on the game. In any case, I hope they fine tune him a bit but don't expect a change in approach necessarily.

But if there is, it might be more focused on newer characters at release. I think that they updated a couple recently (Sam, at minimum, comes to mind) to make them work better with other characters after release.
