Events Quests not working?

This is the third time an Events quest doesn't work, this time it's "make 10 matches in your strongest color with Nightcrawler (Uncanny Spider-Man)".

The previous times, the quest filled up without using the required character, but no luck this time. I've used an ascended Nightcrawler and a non-ascended, but to no avail.
Anybody managed to figure out how to beat this one?

    It worked for me using 2a4 spider crawler

    My 2a4 didn't work, but my 2a3 did, these quests really put the P back into MPQ!

    Someone just asked for that very thing in the monthly Q&A. Only they meant boss events. Instead they've given us puzzley quests :)

    I used 2 Star Crawler Valkyrie and Shang Chi that's how I do these quests. I literally got 8/10 after only a couple nodes
