Discussing Primary vs. Secondary Feeders
I thought I'd bring the subject up since it's much harder to have to an actual discussion on Discord. Gorgon has been introduced to the game, and he does not have a primary feeder. Instead Silver Samurai, who already fed Hit Monkey, now feeds Gorgon as a secondary feeder. What's more, Hit Monkey has two feeders (Domino also feeds Hit Monkey,) while no one primarily feeds Gorgon
I really want to express my disappointment in this. Primary and Secondary feeders are not even close to the same - you get 6 covers from the primary feeder (12 if you max out another feeder,) while the secondary only gives two. It makes it much harder to fully cover a 5★ without a feeder. Silver Samurai could have been changed to feed Gorgon (and still feed Hit Monkey as a secondary, or not, either way,) and Hit Monkey would still have a feeder -- as it stands he doesn't.
There are two other characters in this situation to boot - Ultron (who has a secondary feeder in Gertrude Yorkes but no Primary,) and Captain America - Civil War (who literally has nothing at this point.) I know that neither of these characters are even close to decent in actual play, but still, it's the principle of the thing, they really ought to have a primary feeder.
Anyway, I wanted to share this on the Forums to get our opinions out there as I feel I am hardly alone in being disappointed at this state of affairs. If anyone has a differing opinion I'd be interested to hear it.

I don't disagree. I think it's always good to have enough shards on release day to get a 1/1/1 version. If Silver Samurai had been a primary feeder, I'd have had 4 covers.

This just feels like an oversight to me. Have they confirmed that this is by design, and why?

I've always viewed feeders as a bonus. They generally have more benefit for the players who least need them, allowing those with advanced rosters to quickly champion the new release. It doesn't bother me at all if it takes me a bit longer to get the character to a high level. 5*s are still the top characters in the game so I feel like it should take a bit more time to level them up.

I definitely view a primary feeder as a kind of a requirement - it doesn't have to be an old character, even if it's brand-new (i.e. the Purple Man, for example,) then at least you have a clear past to covering the character in the future. Is it really a requirement? No, of course not, between shards and cover swaps you can absolutely get anyone you feel like, at least eventually, but it feels like a strong part of the game.

The fact that basically every single other character (barring the two you mentioned) has a primary feeder leads me to agree with you. It's not a requirement, but it's pretty odd that we've only got these 3 that aren't fed. I'm willing to bet they just forgot or messed up or something, though -- this doesn't feel intentional.

I think Wolverine (Samurai Daken) is another one without a primary feeder, so maybe it is the whole "a Samurai with no master" sort of thing?
All kidding aside, it is mildly irritating that something could have a "secondary" anything without first having a "primary". I thought that was the entire point. I mean, it's not like there aren't dozens of non-feeders that could have been chosen as a primary. I always thought that these were purposely left that way to allow for the addition of new characters as the game progressed. Maybe not.
While I get that they try to tie feeders together to fit their theme, there are already a bunch of them that don't make a lot of sense. So I don't see why they couldn't just attach one these 'loosies' to get those bonus goodies flowing, and sort it out later if they felt the need to. Whatever, they're going to do what they want regardless of my two cents.
As a side note, having no feeders at all for Captain America (First Avenger) seems like a glaring oversight to me, especially when someone like Agent Coulson would probably jump at the chance... (hint hint)

Smells intentional to me. Way too many things kerploded in the last month. LL/support rotation, no 5*, season pass being altered at rando time, new seasonal vault (barring a giant pile of tokens coming) being a giant disappointment, etc. Now with the (finally) new 5* coming out w/ no primary feeder, just smacks of another cash grab.

Maybe someone can ask on their official Myspace page, or post the question to their Usenet, or whatever place they actually communicate important information to players now.

There have been other 3☆/5☆s released without a feeder - I think Venomosaurus was one of those? If there's a plan to release a 4☆ who would be a good fit in the near future, it makes total sense to not make one now and change it. Secondary feeder is a bit of a halfway house so some people start with something, but you still need to chase both the 5☆ and then the 4☆ when it arrives to get the character champed.
For the avoidance of doubt, I don't know who any of the future character releases are. This is a hypothetical scenario that might explain why there is no primary feeder. It could be an oversight, but I expect that the addition of a secondary feeder means it has been considered and decided against.

Feeders are, at this point, primarily driven by canon or at least a thematic connection.
Like V-Rex was not fed until a 4* MG-DD existed (dinosaurs).
There is not really anyone in game who would feed Gorgon without changing their own feeder status away from someone or him being secondarily fed.
Wolverine, Elektra, Silver Samurai were really the only options. All already feed someone primary.
Maybe they could have changed Sammy from Hit Monkey primary but then some people would have been mad if they were using SS to get HM covers.
It doesn’t feel like a great choice existed to me.

But they have changed Primary feeders in the past. Quite a lot, actually. X-23 (she was the one I forgot, she used to feed Samurai Daken,) Peggy, and Electra were all changed to feed their 5★ versions of themselves and Gertrude Yorkes was changed from feeding Ultron to feeding Victor. They could have easily just changed Kenuichio's primary feeder and set up HM as a secondary feeder. HM still has Domino.

You’ve convinced me, it’s annoying. Dunno why they didn’t make SS feed him primary.

Can only mean 4* Konran incoming!

The Ultron situation also seems like a bit of an oversight since, if they wanted a good thematic connection for Victor, they could have just made Karolina his primary feeder without needed to remove Ultron's primary feeder.
