Performance issue when applying "Level Up" to chars

In the last few days or so, I am experiencing constant performance issues when using the "Level up" function in my roster. There is a delay of several seconds each time I do this. When leveling up multiple chars, some more than once, it is extremely noticeable and annoying. No other aspect of the game has any issues. Playing on Steam.
As an example, from my roster went into Mockingbird to apply 1 level, from clicking on Mockingbird, applying the level and returning to the main roster screen took 30 seconds ... multiply this by 18 chars to level up ....
