MtG:PQ Q&A Session - November 2024
Hey, everyone!
Last Q&A of the year! This time you really made our Game Design team work, eh? We loved that.
Keep bringing your questions! You can submit them through our form, which is always open.

[Interface] Can we repeal the "feature" that allows you to buy packs and hold on to them at the same time? I fail to see the point of this. If players have packs, they open them. And even if they don't want to open them, they certainly don't want to buy more packs they aren't going to open. It was said that this was a feature that was asked for, yet I've seen no evidence of this. It is awkward, looks bad, and will lead to players buying packs they didn't want to, leading to refund requests tying up valuable customer support resources. Just a bad idea overall.
Answer: This feature was requested a long time ago and specifically for some players that wanted to save their non-dupe packs. We see now that it doesn’t serve most of the community and we have since changed how we prioritize our feature requests to offer changes that are impactful for a wider portion of the community.
Regarding the possibility of buying packs accidentally, the game offers a confirmation prompt before each purchase, which makes it unlikely. In fact, we understand your concern, but we have not received refund requests about this kind of issue.
[CM, already answered on Forum] How do you decide which content creators are invited to your private discord chat?
Answer: It has been answered in this comment.
[FTUE, Rewards] Would it be possible to update the story mode training to a PvE training mode that offers 20xp to help those master cards and test cards without the worry of facing high meta decks? Something like 1 high health enemy (bolas at 400 health haha) 1 mid health (200?) 1 low health (120) all with weak creatures and 0 loyalty then we can test different types of decks, and experiment with unused cards.
Answer: We have no plans to add new battles to the Story Mode right now or offer something specifically aimed at mastering cards. But we do like the idea of different PvE opponents for different levels. We are working now on new daily PvE events to be released soon.
[Rules] I couldn't find any rules that define fetch. Can you please explain it? Most cards use fetch to put a card into your hand and that's pretty straightforward and easy to understand. It gets more confusing when cards fetch a card and then move it somewhere other than your hand. Most cards that use fetch and move to put a card into play work even if you have a full hand but there are also cards that use fetch and move that can't put a card into play when you have a full hand. Can you provide some rules for how fetch is supposed to work?
Answer: The "fetch" effect is intended to move cards to the player’s hand. However, over the game's lifecycle, "fetch" has been applied in a variety of other contexts. While this has allowed the current cards to function, it has led to inconsistencies in how cards with fetch effects were designed, resulting in the rules discrepancies you mentioned.
We recognize the need to update the rules text for these cards to ensure their logic and rules are both clear and intuitive, while also maintaining consistency across all cards with similar effects. For cards in future sets, we are designing them to align with the original implementation, where "fetch" interacts with the hand as intended. For existing cards that deviate from this standard, we do not plan to change their functionality. Instead, our approach will be to update their text to accurately reflect how they currently work.
This correction is on our roadmap, but since these cards are functioning as expected and we aim to preserve that functionality during the text update, we are prioritizing higher-priority items and bug fixes for the time being.

But that wasn’t really an answer to the question, was it? It wasn’t a very good answer last month and it’s certainly not a better answer now that you’ve added a winky face.
It sounds like you really don’t have any guidelines other than personal favoritism for your private daily discord chat.
I’m not surprised to learn this, just disappointed.
