Question on Shielding

Usually if I don't shield I lose a bunch of fights and win two or three. But every time I shield I only block lost points. Do I also lose the ability to win points from attacks?

    If someone has you queued up in a node and they attack you and lose, while your shielded, then yes, you will win some points.
