Roster Grab? Over 20 Ascended Characters as Rewards
I was counting among the vaults (and I might have miscounted), but I think I came up with over 20 3a4 characters in the many vaults. I feel like these SEEM like great rewards, but now it makes me feel like I need to have 20 roster slots to be able to pull tokens to get them. Also, if I already have that specific character, now I have a 2nd or even 3rd ascended 4*, and I'd rather have the covers?
BUT I do realize I may not be the majority, because some people have infinite HP or a thousand roster slots. Maybe this is good? Would love to hear your thoughts!
p.s. Is it ever good to sell a 3a4 if I already have 2 3a4s of the same character (which will eventually be that 3a5)?
EDIT: I put my current token/resource situation later in this thread for context and will update my roster later today. Thank you for all the help!

The pre-ascended characters are some of, if not the best rewards they've ever given out. You're getting 100+ covers of the same character all at once.
I don't know your roster or your goals, but if I couldn't afford slots for these there are a TON of things I'd sell before selling one off.
For me, all my 3->4s are starting to hit 370, so most of these will be used to instantly create 5*.

Entrail is correct. They're the best rewards in the game. You sell what you have to in order to roster those.

+1 to ascended characters being massively valuable when compared to how long it takes you to grind them yourself one at a time.

I always pull the seasonal vaults until I get the 2 ascended 3 stars, then stop. After the season, I pull the remaining tokens from daily quests in hopes of pulling more ascended 3 stars. Last season I pulled 3 extra ascended 3 stars beyond the two from the vault off of 40 or so tokens.
The 5 star rewards for 1-3 star covers is the best value. I will have my first maxed ascended 3->4 star soon, so I'll get 5 star rewards for 3 stars. Command points and Legendary tokens are invaluable for maxing 5 stars quickly, and you can easily get a few levels a day with lower level covers because the game is very generous with those.
I highly recommend keeping them if you have the roster slots. Save HP for roster slots because 4 and 5 star rewards give so much HP vs 2 and 3 star rewards.

Oh wow, ok! My current plan is to pull lower tokens until I can ascend my 1* IronMan/BW/Venom/Spidey/Hakweye, giving me a few slots for something I was going to do anyway.
And then I guess I'll sell the three star versions of the ascended characters I pull? Is that insane? Like, I'll sell my 266 3Gambit to roster my pulled 3a4Gambit?
[for context, I currently have these tokens to pull:
Heroic: 827 + 3 10x
Standard: 662
Elite: 694
Mighty: 826
and currently 7760 HP with 300+ tacos to pull for 4000HP on the next vault's cycle.]0 -

Don't you have some random dupes or lower tier characters that can go? Extra copies of mbw or Deadpool to send as team ups?
You could also just open all those tokens! There's probably 10,000+ HP sitting in that pile, depending on what the rest of your roster looks like.

I probably will open all those tokens and just to give you an example, I have one 3Gambit at 266 and one at 179 and one 3a4Gambit on my vine from a vault.

The obvious answer here is to ascend your gambit and use the slot that creates for the 3a4. Then once one of those hits 370 you can automatically ascend to 5*. Unless I'm missing something?

If you're hard up for roster space, you can also just ascend those Gambits (or any other ascension-eligible pairs).
It's not optimal but it's not a MASSIVE difference, and it's like 1000% better than something terrible like selling off the pre-ascended characters.

You are all freakin' geniuses. Of course I'll just non-optimally ascend these characters.
1 -
What's the name of your alliance? I can search that and take a look at your roster. We all can.
2 -
I'm in the NJLEarthPVE alliance! (and I currently have about 285 unapplied covers on my vine, 2 are 3a4 characters)

I'd make this tradeoff in a heartbeat. Glad we could help!

You could open the tokens you have for the hp, but I would apply any covers you have on the vine first for the rewards so you aren't hurting for roster slots again.
How many 2* Cap Marvels you got on the vine? If you didn't want to ascend gambit yet, sell that single cover of cap marvel. Apply any covers of her to the one you have in the 260s.

Totally, but my 2* Cap Marvel will max at 266 without a dupe with 6 more covers and then I'll "need" to roster the 2* Cap Marvel dupe next time I pull her. (Unless I'm wrong?)
And definitely applying from the vine first! I always do it time-sensitive first. I'm a very conservative player, haha.

You would need to roster her again, so that doesn't help you much.
You say you have 7760 hp, why not just buy the 2 slots for the 3a4 characters?
Your taco stash is always an option too. You said you were waiting for the rotation to pull for that hp. In that case at the very least, apply any covers that would expire before the rotation and wait for Monday.
1 -
Yeah, I'll buy the two slots before they expire and then keep saving HP and pulling tokens for when I empty the vaults before they expire. And if I'm lucky in the Steel vault, I can grab more roster slots!

If it makes you feel better, when I first started, I had to sell characters all the time just so I could roster a required a character.
What I'm saying is that vets don't have to do this now, but a lot of us did at some point.

I think I sold 3* Iron Fist four times before he finally got built up. And I sold Bagman for years before finally rostering him.

The early days, doing whatever I could to give myself the best shot at competing each pve. An up to date what's new mpq thread was super helpful too.
