Release Notes 6.9.0
New Mechanics
Survival
This is an evergreen mechanic representing the visitors to the house. They are the weak and the hunted there, but they have some relevant abilities that are the reason they are still alive.
In-game Hint: “At the end of your turn, if this creature has attacked this turn, perform this card's associated Survival effect.”
Rooms
Rooms are double-faced Support Cards that represent the twisted ways in which the doors of Duskmourn can take you to unexpected places. In your hand, you may choose which side to play and, after this card has entered, you may pay its Unlock cost to access the effects of the other side.
Unlock is an evergreen ability of a Room card. Once a Room card is on the board, you may activate its Unlock ability to drain mana from your hand equal to this card’s Unlock value; when you do, this card gains the Unlocked emblem. Room cards have additional effects while the card has the Unlocked emblem.
Unlock In-game Hint: Once this card is on the board, you may activate the Unlock ability to drain mana from your hand equal to this card’s Unlock value; when you do, this card gains the Unlocked emblem. Room cards have additional effects while the card has the Unlocked emblem.
Unlocked Hint: “If this card has this emblem, perform this card’s associated Unlocked effect. When a card with the Unlocked Emblem leaves the board, It loses the Unlocked Emblem.”
Finality
If a card with a Finality Counter would leave the battlefield, it’s exiled instead.
In-Game Hint: “If this card would leave the battlefield, exile it instead.”
Impeding
Impending is an evergreen ability and numerical keyword that tracks the number of turns the card is in hand, reducing its Impending value. If this card enters the battlefield and the Impending value is not zero, the card costs less mana equal to the current Impending value, but the creature enters the battlefield with -X/-X, where X is equal to its current Impending value.
In-game Hint: “When this card enters your hand or at the beginning of your turn, if this card is in your hand and its Impending value is higher than 0 — reduce this card's cost by X until end of turn. X is 3 times this card's Impending value. Then: Reduce this card's impending value by 1. When this card is cast: If its Impending value is higher than 0 — This card gets -Y / -Y. Y is this card's Impending value.”
Manifest
As you explore Duskmourn, a shiver runs down your spine. You feel something is there - but what?
When you Manifest, a token is created and later this token will give you access to some other card. The token created by Manifest Dread is called Fright and makes you choose between two cards when its Manifest ability is activated:
Eerie
Eerie is an evergreen ability that triggers an effect every time its controller unlocks a room or when an Aura or Enchantment card enters the battlefield under that player’s control.
Please note that Eerie cares for these cards entering, not for them being played. Aura Spells do not trigger Eerie effects.
In-Game Hint: “When an Aura card or an Enchantment Creature or Enchantment Support card enters into play under your control or when you activate an Unlock ability, your cards with Eerie perform their associated Eerie effects.”
New Planeswalkers
Kaito, Bane of Nightmares
After battling against the Phyrexians, Kaito is now on Duskmourn to take back an important scroll looted from Tamiyo’s body after her demise. Also ready to find Tamiyo’s son, trapped somewhere in this new plane, the cyberninja at least can count on his comrades to succeed in his mission.
