Devpool = All Affiliations, so doesn't show up in a normal query filter

And reminder, you can search in the game… but just make sure to click the “Affiliation” box at the very bottom.

I feel like they must've done a terrible job of communicating that the "search by affiliation" thing exists.

Every single time a mission asks you to use some affiliation, we get a thread on here asking who qualifies.

I don't know what the answer to this is.

Let’s be honest, the “puzzle” aspect of Marvel Puzzle Quest is often kind of missing in a game where the main answer to nodes is often “use the meta or your best boosted character”.

So a thing that challenges you to figure out how to find specific affiliation combos is kind of a puzzle and ok?

Also they want it to be a little tricky, I think, so people feel some accomplishment and also it reduces the free tokens to super casual players who either don’t have the right roster or don’t care to figure it out.

And I’ll admit it’s even worse when it’s a double affiliation, because you can’t actually filter that. But at least with this one you can filter on street level and then just look for the villains (since most of us generally know that grouping just by sight).

Well...except it's not tricky or challenging at all? You just search by affiliation and it gives you the list of guys that qualify. The only tricky or challenging thing is that for whatever reason, nobody seems to know that "search by affiliation" exists at all.

If they wanted to make it a puzzle, they could remove that feature, or hide affiliations, or something like that. As it stands, the only puzzle here is "do you know how to search?" -- and nobody does!

If someone I normally use doesn't qualify, then I use Devpool.

Devpool, 4/5 Juggernaut and 4/5 Groot and Rocket are my team for easy PVE nodes, so I usually get a jump on those milestones.

I think the problem is that the radio buttons are WAY down at the bottom of the search criteria well off the screen on a phone at least (not sure on Steam). Many players likely have never scrolled down to see those radio buttons.

Maybe the answer is to move those buttons to the top so they are always visible (it's annoying to me to always have to scroll down to click them since they are 99% of the things I change on the search criteria as I rarely search for characters ready to ascend or all 3 stars etc).

Sometimes you build a puzzle that's truly challenging.

Sometimes you build a puzzle that's challenging for your audience.

Those are not always the same thing.....

The search by affiliation is definitely hidden and, when using a phone, is a PITA to access. Why not have it just be checked by default and that would solve a lot of issues.

Maybe forget the free form text box and just have a check box for each affiliation you want to filter on.

I assume they shied away from that because they add new ones somewhat frequently and have you seen all the affiliations in game?

So the scroll box would be incredibly long and they’d have to update the it every time they decided to add one.

I had the same assumption. Checkboxes would make searching easier (plus you could additionally filter by name or power keyword) and would allow one to search by multiple affiliations.

This is a user interface (UI) design that determines how users engage with the interface. For example, too many checkboxes can bog down the process and complicate the overall experience

A real-world example would be deciding what ingredients are add-on options & how to list them at a drive-in, like extra cheese or pickles, no tomato or mayo, etc. Too many options can overwhelm or confuse customers and lengthen the ordering process

I'm fine with the current interface, although I think more communication is needed to educate players about the filter options to search for things like affiliation and ability

I think the free-form text box is one of their most powerful features. It can be used in so many ways and combined with other search options for very cool results.

I prefer using the text box to look for my characters ready for ascension over using the "Ascend" filter option. Whereas "Ascend" only displays the max champed characters, using the text box to search for my characters, then leveling by "Name (A-Z)" provides a complete picture of the state of my ascended characters.

Now if only there was a query language that could be used in said test box ... and if'n only said text entry box wasn't a refugee from a MS-DOS terminal ...

Where, oh where is our MPQuery specification?
