It's not a clue, "MPQ Veteran" is actually an original character whose powers all revolve around complaining about different aspects of the game. He has a passive that makes him threaten to quit every match unless his demands are met (they never are, but he never quits, either).

Iron Patriot was one of the first characters of the game (console version only).

Players have been asking for him for years to be added to our version of the game and the timing (July 4th) for a character called Iron Patriot makes sense.

All the 1*.
All the 2*, minus Nightcrawler, Electro, OBW, and Ares.
At 3*, Loki, Ragnarok, Magneto, GSBW, the Hood, Spider-Man, Dr Doom (3* are where I'm least confident!)
At 4*, xforce wolverine.

Edit: forgot 1* Spiderman was not there at launch. Also 2* Captain Marvel.

Nothing exceeds like excess ... here are all the releases from launch through the first 5* trio, 2yrs later, plus some notes.

Most of the characters listed as release in Oct 2013 were in-game on launch day (10/3/13); the dates shown here are when character posts were put up covering them on the first incarnation of this forum.

3* Loki was (IIRC.....) the first post-launch character, and subject of the first new character thread, on 10/10/13, one week after launch. Bag-Man was the 2nd, on 10/17/13, IM40 third on 10/24/13, and 3* Spider-Man 4th on 10/31/13.
