The Greatest Heist - First Unwinnable Event?

Is this the first event that becomes unwinnable if you don't include certain cards in your deck? Usually certain cards are needed for full points (Cast X Snow cards, Boast 4 times, etc), but I can't think of an event where you couldn't damage Greg at all without certain cards.

This weekend's games were unwinnable if you didn't have Outlaws (for the megabombs) or support hate. Granted, that's a low bar to overcome. But the objectives (deal 20 damage, gain 15 life) didn't hint that either would be needed. If certain types of cards are needed to be able to win a match, that needs to be crystal clear ahead of time. Most people look at objectives, but not rules ahead of time. I know I never look at permanent supports ahead of time; most just haven't had that much impact. And the ones that did made things difficult, not impossible.

And for the record, I scored perfect in the event (I had Teferi, Hero of Dominaria in my deck, so was able to exile the support), so this isn't sour grapes. But an event shouldn't be unwinnable without certain cards.

There used to be some events where you had to play a given PW, which you couldn't if you didn't own it.

I remember those days. The first instances of those events they didnt even offer the PW for purchase while the event was running. You either had to purchase it for $$$ when it was in the vault, or happen to get it while in the vault.

As for this event, I believe technically the event support reduced damage by 99,999, so you could play long enough to get a creature big enough to win if you cant remove the support.

It was 999,999. Unless you read about that ahead of time and specifically built for it the odds of having a deck that can put out a creature with over a million power fast enough to let finish the event is pretty low. Much better odds of having support removal effects.
