Who Does Number 1 Work For?!

TLDR: Who do you think is the best character in the game.

Now that ascension has been around a while, many of you have multiple ascended characters. This shakes up the rankings quite a bit. We already knew this, but, from your perspective, who is currently numero UNO! (or 2 if you really can't choose).

NOW, we all know this value differs from person to person based on what mode they play, how they play etc., so no need to go bashing others opinions. I'm really just curious to see others thoughts and who really floats to the top.

EX: noting I only have 1 ascended 4star, Karnak, but I have most top tier 5*s championed
In my experience, I honestly think Chasm is still number 1 (all around usefulness). He provides crazy defensive value shutting down so many teams. I use him more than most in PVE and PVP AND I think he is the person I avoid fighting against the most because he's annoying.
Honorary mention: I still believe Shang Chi to be broken due to the amount of damage he can dish out with single abilities.

Maybe ‘best’ character isn’t what you should be asking @WhiteBomber, as most would probably argue amongst Shang Chi, MThor and a few others.
Maybe a better question is who people have the most fun using?
This changes for me fairly often, as I get bored of using the same teams all the time and like to find new cool combos.
Personally I’m absolutely loving Sinister at the moment since his rework. When paired with Kang he’s an infinite trap machine (and conveniently a pretty solid MThor counter).

I get the fun part, that would just make this the same thread as one of the other threads (I forget the title). I'm more so interested in the perspective of who is really good. Perhaps to make it a little more diverse, we could say "excluding MThor and Shang". I'm especially curious to see 4stars who make the cut, but perhaps not enough people will chime in to get enough info anyway. Like, maybe Mr. Bucket thinks an Mbaku of equal level is better than Mthor...

Also, of all the recent reworks, Sinister is the one I really wish I had, he sounds excellent and fun as hell. I currently have cover, so I'm almost there?

That's one of the threads, I think the other is like "Fun teams" or something of the like. Those are the 2 dearest threads to me since I'm constantly looking for more fun / diverse teams.

For you then (since I know you have a crazy roster), removing Mthor / Shang from the table, who's next?

This is an extraordinarily difficult question, because it's very very hard to rate these guys in some "neutral" metagame. Like certain guys now are worse than they should be because m'Thor is everywhere. I don't think there's a similar outlier in the game currently. The next tier of guys (Omega Red, Colossus, Aunt May, ascended Polaris, Juggernaut...you know the rest) all have some kind of weak point.

I'm also not sure Shang-Chi is a clear-cut #2, btw. He's very, very good, and a skilled pilot can go infinite with him and beat literally anything.

But that "skilled pilot" bit is the rub. Right now, you can just bring m'Thor and have her charge tiles for him and cascade half the board away every turn passively, while he racks up combo points and kills everyone. If we didn't have a free passive cascade generator/tile charger, he gets a LOT slower, and a LOT more player-skill-dependent.

It sure can be a difficult question as there are many varying things one might consider important to them. I'm only lookin for opinions though, go with your heart @entrailbucket, or your gut? I didn't even know I was going to put Chasm until I typed this out. In a better scenario I would have a doc with every character that everyone could rank... actually, I think there's a website for that.

Also, Shang is broken and you know it, "skilled" is used very loosely here.

My favorite character is Big Wheel! I think he's the most fun 5*. I love Bruce Banner too, probably because I maxed him out before he got good, and I got to stomp everybody with him right away.

The problem with Shang-Chi by himself, or paired with, like 4* Agent May or something, is that he can beat absolutely anything, but he's SLOW. The "skill" is both in identifying the best cascade moves, and doing it fast enough that all your matches take 2 minutes or less. Any more than that and he's useless for high-end play.

It's tough to say who the best is.
It's easier just to put characters into tiers and let people squabble over the differences.
Choosing just 1 character is kind of pointless since these characters do not exist in a vacuum. The partners they have matter and sometimes a mediocre character like Big Wheel becomes really good with the right partners.
Also, there is enough variety in the A tier now that you don't have to use the best of the best.
