not asking how many per group but how many people play per level.
what i mean by that is for the hell of it been playing rank 5 and doing 5 clears each and always got you top 50 each day.. moved up to rank 7 or 8 and did 5 or 6 clears each and still only got top 200

just more people play more at higher ranks or just got into a grindy bracket

Get a data gig with BCS?

The higher the SCL, the more the grind.
The earlier you join, the more the grind.

Go low and late if you want to coast!

You would think 5 or 6 clears would get you the same rank no matter what level you join

Just thought it was weird moving from level 5 to 7 doing 6 clears of each would net you around same group

    Find it weird.
Level 5. 6 clears if each. Top 50
Level 7. 6 clears of each top 200

So people must grind to 1. The higher u go

No they clear quicker and start grind later. It makes a big difference.

The people playing in higher SCLs have been around longer and trying longer. More of them know the way to play to maximize their score. If they're in SCL7 and grinding 6x, they're more likely playing for score maximizing to some degree, timing their clears etc. You can hit progression without playing that much so grinding more is just pushing your score for placement. (and clearing node rewards, I guess)

Down in 5 you probably have a much higher % of players hitting progression and quitting since the placement rewards are not really worth the effort.

That said if you join a later flip (except no one is really tracking SCL7) you could get away with grinding less and doing better, most likely.

I believe at one point they said 30% of players play in SCL10 at this point, although that % might have gone up with ascension and all. Currently there are about 14,500ish in there leaving about 33,800 divided among the other SCLs. (Probably a number of late joiners, maybe 5000 more) My guess would be 5 would be one of the least played SCLs but I don't know.

No funny thing about level 5. Only make it to were the cp is rewarded I think the 3rd one from full rewards and still take top 25

Maybe just a grind bracket or getting into non filled level 5

No, I would not think that. The SCLs and brackets both act like sieves, filtering for dedication, consistency, roster strength, and "tryhardedness".

The same effort will place higher in a later bracket and/or in a lower SCL, than in an earlier bracket a/o higher SCL.

Where/when ever you are playing, the performance increase it takes to place higher and higher is not linear, it's exponential.

Also, the timing of your 5 or 6 clears makes a significant difference in your score.

Whe I play my alt account, typically in SCL5, if I bother to finish all the clears, 7 clears for most nodes, that's usually top 20 placement and there are big gaps between scores. If I play some kind of "optimally", that's usually top 2 or 3 ... competing with the 1 or 2 other people that even know how to do that and are willing to do that. (This is just a silly mobile game, right?)

If I "early" join in SCL10 on my main account (meaning I join the first bracket with all the diehards), in slice 4 or 5, the top 100 - 200 players will be within 5% of each other score-wise. The top 50 or so are within 1% of each other!

I've always found the sweet spot to be late joining the first sub, in whatever slice you choose. Let 8 to 16 hours slide by, then join.

THere are places where players tracks when brackets are about to flip ... I've never been into that. But such things are out there if you want that guidance. It can be a big advantage, if you want to play competitively, and are willing and able to do so.
