illicit shipment sometimes doesn't offer the casualty choice [Investigating]
I've seen it a few times in the last weeks and again today.
I had Atraxa and Hangarback walker in play but didn't get the chance to sacrifice a creature after playing illicit shipment.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, I've not Bern able to find a logic to it

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, I've not Bern able to find a logic to itI've seen this with Cut Your Losses too. I found that Casualty is only usable if you have room in hand for the copy. Can you check if that's the case for you too?

I'll have to check that, thanks

That's odd, at least for me.
Even if you can't actually get the copy, you should have the option to sacrifice.. right? Can you guys send the decks/interactions you used in order to make it work? Since by default you have one fewer card in hand after playing a spell, what alternative way you used to play it? I'll try to reproduce it then check with our team.

I played Cut your Losses in a Rashmi loop deck. I'll retrieve the decklist later and send it to you.
Anyway, Rashmi fetches a card before CYL resolves, and because of that there's no room in hand. It does not give you the option to sacrifice a creature in that case. It made sense when I saw it happening.

@Opperstamper Rakshmi was enough to reproduce it. Thanks a bunch.
The factor here seems to be having a full hand, yes. Without a Rakshmi I found no problem (even using other Casualty cards).
I'll check with the team if Casualty is supposed to trigger even if it'd have no effect.Lu

I've noticed that sometimes Illicit Shipment will let me sacrifice a Startled Awake with power 1 or 2 even tho Illicit Shipment has Casualty 3.
I haven't tested this, but I'm wondering if Casualty checks the power of the first creature you control, and not the power of the creature you choose to sacrifice?
I don't know if it's relevant to this bug thread but I thought it might be.

Hey, @Janosik!
Thanks for the report. That would be really weird and got me worried.
I tried to reproduce the behavior you reported, sacrificing a small creature for the Shipment, but coudn't. I've tried many different configurations. Maybe this was also fixed with the last issues we fixed for this card?
Did this ever happened with other cards with Casualty? If you can reproduce it, please send here the screencaps/logs/deck/all info you can, OK?

Coming back late to this thread, but I was finally able to confirm that a full hand blocks the functionality

What did the team say? This always seemed like it was undocumented functionality of the ability intended to prevent people from destroying their own creature without realizing that they don't have room for a copy of the card in their hand. Ideally the explanation of casualty should either mention this or let you destroy your own creature without receiving a copy of the card, because this has caused confusion for many players. While letting you destroy a creature without receiving a copy of the card would give the card more functionality I'd prefer to see the text for casualty updated to mention the restriction. Otherwise people are still going to be confused by cards with casualty when they destroy their own creature and don't get a copy of the card due to their hand being full. I guess you explain that in the ability too but since a lot of people don't read the abilities to closely I think the current behavior would probably be problematic. Anyway just curious to see if they responded either way yet as it would be nice to have the confirmation of this either working as intended or it being unintentional and something that's going to be updated.
