some creatures who should be getting and giving shield counters are giving oil counter by mistake.

I observed the same behavior. Though it's just a visual bug, the Shield Counter look like Oil Counter but act correctly as Shield Counter.
On it, folks! I'm listing Perrie for now and have our team check it and the mechanics in general. If you can tell us other cards that have the same twisted behaviour, it'd speed up our investigation.

Additional info: I just tested it and Rebbec's counter behaved as a Shield counter even if the hint said Oil Can you guys confirm it?
I can confirm this behavior. It not only applies to cards, but the shield counter effect in general, by the looks of it, i.e. the token support "Protection Provenance" created by the planeswalker Elspeth Resplendent can apply shield counters to random cards and this visual bug appears in those cases as well.
