How should we moderate the alliance forum (poll)?

Disclaimer
We have no desire or intention to moderate the individual alliance chat threads (unless individual posts get reported). This is purely intended as housekeeping - help make the main page of the sub-forum a bit tidier.

Purpose
The question has come up a few times about how to handle the moderation of the alliance sub-forum. If you're here reading this, that means this may actually be relevant to you. As the poll indicates, I was looking for direction from you, the actual consumers of this sub-forum, on what we your moderators can do to improve the appearance and/or usability of this sub-forum.

The only thing I would note is that for the "delete" options in the poll, this will remove any reputation mods applied to the posts in question. To me, that's fine as "recruitment" posts really aren't reputation-worthy.

Thoughts?

  • Do not do #4. We sometimes people wanting to leave, so we (more like I) use our original alliance thread to announce we're looking for new recruits.

Why not just quote the post and make a new one then?

He's saying if we delete it then that can't happen. Unless you're writing a book for a recruitment post, making a new post shouldn't be that bad.
  • Making a new post in "alliance looking for player" thread is fine. I do that but it is nice to have the alliance thread to announce things as well. If you deleted that alliance thread, I would probably have to create it every time we needed fresh blood littering the subforum even more.

If some moderation is needed I would suggest #2 and 3 and also merging threads that belong to a single alliance.

Well if you merge them, it shouldn't be too hard to find in your post history. Unless you post like phantron or something

Do mods actually have the time to do options #2 - #5? Seems like a lot to commit to with little payoff for you personally.

The alliance board is a cluster but I don't think it's fixable without a lot of time that would be better spent matching 3 (or more) like-colored gems.
