What's the best color in the MPQ metagame today?

For a LONG time, green was the best color by a lot -- it had all the strongest AoE powers. Yellow was extremely weak -- it was just a bunch of bad protect tile powers and fake healing.

The MPQ "color pie" is a lot less regimented these days, although there are some general rules. Stuns are mostly blue, steals are mostly purple, power boosts are mostly yellow.

So which color is strongest today? Why do you think so?

I'd say red. Apocalypse red, m thor red, omega red red, etc. I feel like I always have multiple good options for red ap.

I uses SC almost exclusively because the red gave me total board control to go winfinite. I rest my case.

Erm, why the red icon appears to be orange...?

5HE / Gargantos or any other countdown team
Yellowjacket's shrink + damage boost
GED's heal / AP steal
JJ's damage traps

Most of the stuns - including Polaris, Talos, 5Iceman and BW

So many of the best and most interesting powers in the game, or for particular characters, are on blue - it powers the best SAP teams, the best countdowners, the most destructive board shakers, the stun lockers, and more than one winfinite.

I picked blue too, blue has just gotten crazy strong over the last few years. I got this idea from another thread and wanted to see what the community thought.

There are NO votes for green, which is surprising.

Yellow was bad forever, then it got very very good with Okoye and Apocalypse, and now I guess it's bad again?

Once they decided they couldn’t go any further with aoe, green got pretty bad, although not as bad as it was when they made it jack of all trades for a couple years and you got some truly wretched greens like Yelena’s and Havok’s. Purple is probably the weakest right now. Yellow has weak depth but the top yellow powers are the best or close to the best in the entire game. Black is ok. Red and blue are well ahead right now, imo.

Agree with everything and everyone listed by the good @DrClever but wanna expand on a few of them. I chose blue since the characters I used and still use daily, blue is the engine that makes them all go. MThors blue creates the charged tiles which her red and yellow damage is based. BRB's blue feeds his yellow for AP generation. Ghostpools blue passive was how I used to counter Polaris back in my early days when I didn't have all characters options on my roster. I would hunt blue matches to trigger Ghostpools passive damage to Polaris while also getting blue AP for Yellowjacket to go invisible. We all know about Polaris' blue but this brings me to YJ. When invisible, everything he does does so with increased damage, plus sap tile destruction. Again, blue makes him go. Morbius' self healing + enemy sap tile destruction is blue, 4* Riri blue feeds her red, Silk's blue can create any sap tile you need. It all starts with blue.

The most dominant PVE combo in the game is built on yellow. Apoc yellow boost, BRB yellow protect tiles passive. Even with a bad start for black, green, or red, as long as it's a good start for yellow the match will be over quick.

Yellow is also Jane's nuke, Okoye's heal/accel, Colossus match damage boost/mitigation, Kitty's SAP tile buff, Grocket's passive strikes, Gorr's repeater passive, SM2099's passive damage, and 3* Strange's passive which is the most proc'd power in the games history according to 10th anniversary stats, all extremely relevant in both PVE and PVP across multiple tiers of play.

The new powers for 1* Widow and Hawkeye are also yellow. Coincidence? I think not!!!!

Strong cases for 2nd place can be made for both black - as the other major piece of Apoc BRB combo, Okoye's boost, Omega's passive AOE, and iHulk's revive - and purple, as the source of Shang's charge and crit tile creation, Polaris' tile duplication and passive damage, and Chasm revive. (even though revive Bros aren't really that meta anymore).

Red, green, and blue all have their uses but are not the driving colors of the current top meta.
