Help: How To Win Class Of 2023
The Class Of 2023 is the most difficult versus event I have ever entered. Every time I come into this match, even with an AP boost, power boost, or Team-Up piece, I will lose.
This is what happens in my battle. Note that in every match, I am using a loaned 5-star Omega Red, because mine is not strong enough:
- I bring 5-star Wong and 3-star Magik. That team loses.
- Then it's 5-star Jeffrey and 4-star Clea. That team loses.
- Finally, it's 5-star Spider-Gwen and 5-star Venomsaurus Rex. That team loses.
I have even mixed in a 5-star Magik in some battles. Still nothing. Because of the increased number of losses, I have opted not to bring in any of the lesser heroes for these versus matches.
The opponents I face all use a loaned or owned 5-star Omega Red, but will use combinations of 5-star Kang, 5-star Majik, 5-star High Evolutionary and 4-star Clea. What happens is that I always look to remove the Pestilence Spore tile first so that I don't lose my heroes quickly, but it's too far out of my reach by match, or if there is a match, it's right next to my own Pestilence Spore tile and am forced to give that one up by match or destroy to preserve my roster. But no matter what I choose - keep the spore tile or destroy it at the cost of mine - all it does is give my opponent a preparation advantage. Namely, I end up giving my opponent yellow tiles to grant their team protect tiles and armor, and now I am struggling to get rid of the protect tiles as it renders my match damage and ability damage nearly useless. Sometimes I will have 5-star Wong and his Eldritch Whip to remove the spore tile right away, but it always happens when my loaned Omega Red is weak or has no yellow tiles to create protect tiles of his own, and that usually ends in disaster; Omega Red is downed by then. But just my luck, the time I finally get enough AP for whatever power I want, I lose that hero on the next turn instantly.
Here is who I have on my 2023 roster, and their current stats:
5-star Omega Red: 399, Level 1 Red and Black | No Yellow
4-star Peni Parker: 158, Level 2 Blue | No Black or Red
5-star Wong: 429, Level 1 Yellow and Purple, Level 2 Yellow
5-star Jeffrey: 414, Level 1 Purple and Red and Green
5-star Magik: 414, Level 3 Black | No Red or Purple
5-star Spider-Gwen: 414, Level 2 Purple, Level 1 Black | No Red
5-star Venomsaurus Rex: 414, Level 1 Green, Level 2 Blue | No Red
4-star Cleo: 367, Level 4 Blue and Purple, Level 5 Yellow
4-star Coleen Wiig: 297, Level 4 Blue and Red, Level 2 Yellow
3-star Majik: 259, Level 3 Black, Level 5 Red and Purple
3-star Spider-Rex: 254, Level 4 Red and Blue, Level 5 Green
3-star Spider-Gwen: 252, Level 4 Purple and Yellow, Level 5 Red
4-star Human Torch: 227, Level 3 Red, Level 2 Black and Green
3-star Omega Red: 188, Level 2 Red, Level 3 Black, Level 4 Yellow
4-star Moondragon: 186, Level 2 Yellow and Red, Level 1 Purple
4-star Silver Samurai: 181, Level 2 Red and Black
As of now, the only way I can win the 2023 versus is to use a completely loaned team of 5-star Omega Red, 4-star Peni Parker and 3-star Jeffrey. Bring lots of Red-Yellow boost, and if a stun is needed, Blue-Purple boost to give Peni a head start. By the fourth turn, both Jeffrey and Peni are out, leaving me to win with just Red. This was the strategy I've been using as of late to get me to 27 wins. While it's better than nothing, I feel that I can do better.
So yeah, I need help. How do I win the 2023 versus battles if my roster is too weak to compete? Who should I focus on powering up, or do I need to get a hero that I do not have on this roster to better my chances?

Yeah this is pure roster strength, definitely the hardest of the class events.

You shouldn't play Jeffrey. It's a character designed for make you laugh and yours opponents laugh more.
Loaners are awful. Take omega and try gwen and dinosaur.0 -
I've been using OR, Wong and Dino. It's a rainbow, Wongs strikes or protects make a big difference, Dino can stun and his Green is decent, and ORs AoE is the most efficient damage dealer.

For me my teams are:
Omega Red, High Evo, Kang
Omega Red, High Evo, Ven Rex
Omega Red, Magik, Cosmos0 -
I got to 25 wins with loaned OR, loaned Peni, 3* Kang.
Skip all non-loaner opponents.
Kang away OR before Kang dies.
Heal Kang.
Repeat. The CP at 50 wins ain't worth it.

I have baby champ HEvo and Kang. Using them with loaner OR to save health packs. Chasing blue with targeting the weakest opponent. Then just win via Kang as soon as I have 9/18 blue.
Not fast or especially elegant, but I have only really had trouble against opposing Wongs that get to start with strike tiles.
