I no longer see the blurry golden 10th anniversary adornments while the game loads.

Of course in the interests of cosmic balance the character portraits no longer cache so I get to enjoy low res versions of those instead.

One step forward, one step back, marching on the spot together into a reassuringly unchanging future.

    Works fine on my device. Have you considered it is your hardware not their software that is to blame?

    I'm seeing the same as the OP after the new update.
    Icons are now cached immediately, but the characters and background are low-res until the progress bar hits the magical 43%. Prior to the update, it was just the opposite.

    I assumed it was just me and my old phone until this thread was posted.

    Yep, gave it a lot of thought and decided that on the balance of probabilities it wasn't my hardware.
