pve vs pvp rewards
So the new simulator gives 3 Black Panther covers some iso and hp for a high placing. It lasts 7 dayas.
The current Cage match pvp gives 3 Black Panther covers some iso and hp for a high placing. It lasts 2.5 days.
The pvp counts towards season rankings and progression. Each pvp win gives 70-250 iso plus progression rewards plus up to +30 skip iso.
The pve doesn't count towards season rankings. Rewards for winning a node range from 20 iso to 500. You get the 20iso 50% of the time after the first win and every win when you have won all the listed rewards. The sub brackets have no progression rewards and you can only win some heroic tokens +iso +hp for high placings they last 2days each.
Now my Black Panther only needs 3 covers to finish. When the sim started I thought I'll grind it heaps and get the covers. But then the pvp started and its no contest as to which has better and faster rewards. Pvp matches are quite quick (and cap at lvl 141) and they give out more iso per win. Nothing like grinding through a pve lvl250+ node and getting 20iso to make you realise that the pve rewards just don't stack up to the pvp ones.
Anyone know if there are plans to boost the pve rewards to match the pvp ones? If you only have time to play one or the other its pvp every time for the better rewards given out faster.

I doubt there are plans to make to pve rewards more in-line with pvp rewards as far as reward/time ratio is concerned. While I share in your frustration I wanted to add that when I first started playing in events (I think right when Psylocke came out) I feel like it was much closer to being balanced. Most of the long PvEs have subs, so you have the chance at tokens, iso, and hp there. Also back then there seemed to be much more generous progression rewards (i.e. more/larger hp/iso/3* covers). As if that weren't enough, you had the first win iso bonus to help bring iso levels more equal as well. So, by the end of a 7 day pve, you could have 5 or 6 3* covers, 5-8 event tokens, 400+ hp, and I won't try to add up the iso, but it should be a decent amount taking into account all the subs, main event, progression, 1st win bonus, and node rewards. Sure there are still more covers to be had by top 5'ing all the PvP in that 7 day span, but it's far closer than it is these days where it seems every possible reward has been reduced in PvE.0

OP, shhh! Don't say anything. It's far more likely that they'll FURTHER nerf PvP rewards than buff PvE ones, even if that means driving away most of their players. All in the name of being able to better "monetize" everyone. I do give the devs props for managing to create an extended, artificial scarcity of 3-star covers, but their whole system is jacked up. They'd make a lot more money with lower prices and more reasons to have an extended roster. But really there's so much screwed up with MPQ's overall model, I'm honestly not sure if it's even worth fixing.0

On the other hand (for me), I face reasonble level opponents in PvE and can play at my own pace without having to use HP for PvE.
For PvP I'm up against insane opposition and have to constantly shield up to get within a sniff of Top25, forget top 10 these days. I'm enjoying PvE but finding PvP absolutely joyless while my bracket is so tough.0 -

Agree. I feel that PVE is easier to manage whereas for PvP, it depends on the bracket that I'm in.
In PvP, it's almost certain that I will need to use shields to get top 10 placings. That means it's an investment, albeit with uncertain returns, as it's not confirmed that I will get top 10 with shields.let's say I spend 300 on shields and only get top 50. Which means that it cost me 300HP for PvP rewards. Not a small sum for f2p players I will say.
On the other hand, pve require absolutely nothing to play. Everything that you gain from pve is pure profit. I think pve is much better for newer players whereas pvp is better for those who has a good roster.
You cannot then compare the rewards without looking at the differing nature of pvp and pve0 -
It's important to note that PvP used to be longer events (4-5 days, I think?) and PvE's were only used to roll out new covers (Maybe twice a month).
At some point, due to player feedback, they lessened the PvP tourney length and created more PvE events.
So, it's much better now than it used to be, even if the end rewards sometimes seem a bit imbalanced.0 -
OTOH PVE drops a ton of HP and you need not spend an ounce.0

You do need to be playing in the final hours of pve in order to get a decent placing. If you can't you have no chance of a top 10 or even a top 50.
Pvp you can get a good score pop a shield and still get top 10 even if it doesn't end for another day.
Yes the pve doesn't cost HP for shields but it costs a lot more playtime. And you don't HAVE to use shields in pvp it just makes it a lot easier to place well.0 -

PVP I can do a quick 30 minute burst for a bunch of points and then get back to doing something more important.0 -

Unless you're a newbie you can't place well in pvp without shields. AAMOF you can't stay over 700 pts and in veteran brackets it is no good for top 50, probably even 100.0 -
PvE rewards are less impressive for time invested when it comes to high placings but not so much when you go outside the guaranteed 3* covers. A lot of ppl won't reach 900 in PvP, at least without shielding which will probably cost more than that 50Hp you're getting for the progression, so instead you're looking at a 2*+ token, a C.Storm cover and some ISO for progression in the current PvP. If you land outside the top 50 you are looking at, at best, 50 hp, bit more ISO and one more c.storm cover.
So if you're not placing top 50 (like most ppl) that's 2 c.storm covers, maybe 50hp, some ISO and a token that'll probably give a 2*
In the current PvE I imagine near everyone can get 25000 points (even with no featured hero) and a decent number can get to 37500 (esp since MMN seems to work in the magneto featured nodes....). That means you're getting 100Hp (and no spending on shields), some ISO, a c.storm cover, 2 tokens (probably 2* heroes) and a 3* punisher cover. If you could place high enough for a c.storm cover in PvP you can probably do the same in the PvE AND all the c.storm rewards also include 50HP, whereas in PvP some get 50, some 25, some none.
Also in the PvE only half the players are missing out on a c.storm (or 1+BPs) and HP from placings whereas in pvp 60% get no covers and 70% get no HP. Add to that the sub placement rewards and, for the majority of players, the PvE is a better set of rewards. It's only the guaranteed 3* placement covers which are obviously worse for the effort IMO and even then at least you aren't spending HP on shields to get them.0 -
Also in multi-round pve you can join just for the last subs and win top places easily without much play either. Because others carry personal scaling of the whole event and you'll fight way easier battles.0

PVE is more like the kind of game I want to play. There's much more variety of opponents, I'm the main determiner of my own points, there's no shielding, there's no sudden 50-place drops, and it feels a lot less arbitrary. It's fun. Frustrating occasionally, but mostly fun, whereas PVP is about 90% frustration and 10% fun. There's also generally more ISO, it's much easier to play at my own pace, and I'm not nearly as focused on covers as I used to be now anyway (I've got 8 3*s cover-maxed and will have a 9th probably by lunchtime; almost certainly by tomorrow morning).0
