I think it would be fun to have a BOP or CA style PVE once in a while. It would really change things up.

For BOP you have the last sub of Lost In Time.
For Combined Arms, run Shangvez + third wheel.
There. See how fun this is.
And no, I'm not going to play CL 10 PVE without a 5*.

I'm thinking a new event that would make it interesting, not just dropping BOP or CA into the same old drudgery of current events.

After the trouble they're having with the same old events you think they'll manage to create new ones?

Surely it would be better if they absolutely did create new ones with code they actually understand. I'm not hopeful that any future attempt at something like The Hulk wont end up as a 14 day long Heroic with a SCL10 health pool but a required 1* node.

This would be great, force players to think ootb instead of mindless node zergrush >:)
And Ofc 8hours sub because we want to live in danger

Still not. But I see how he can say most mpq issues are the players fault and not the game

There is a point in this thread that is missing.
In 5* land there are some characters who are crucial, and they have powerful passives too.
And there is only one character who doesn't need them (SC):
Of course I'm talking about boosting characters. For to deal with huge healthpools on scl10, or pvp, any character needs:

    • a character boosting any active or passive power (okoye, apoc, SW, Emma,...)
    • a godboost of 110 levels
    • a good amount of beefy strike tiles (kitty historically has helped here).

Those boosting characters with their passives, or a mix of passive and AP(SW) are what actually makes all powers and passives to be really considerate at what they do.
Without these characters any power could be free to be a big nuke, any character without help could defeat big foes. But it's impossible to change it now.
Also right now there are added passives enhancing, or crippling enemies by via affiliations.
Also supposedly in pvp there will be added passives via supports (sometime).
So the game is taking exactly the opposite approach than restricting OP passives.

It's not IMPOSSIBLE to change, but it would be difficult. You'd just have to release characters that shutdown passives and/or boosts of any kind. My guess is it would probably have to go both ways, a little bit like Chasm, and it would basically turn the match into "Active Powers Only" mode. A character like that would break a lot of teams.

Just make active powers worth using!

If Hulk can do 10,000 damage passively every turn, then an active AoE that costs 10AP should do...I dunno, 100,000 damage or something.

The problem is when people bring that character AND boost them. That's why all the pre-release nerfs happen.

And yet we can almost all agree that boost weeks have made more characters viable than ever... IMO that's the sweet spot to aim for. Make every single character a viable choice on their boost week and the ones that are just a little better than that won't matter so much. I realize that's easier said than done, but it's what I'd like to see.

Yeah those limited PVPs must have bombed HARD, we haven't seen them in years.
I don't think that's the way to go for MPQ.

Has it been years? I remember BOP happens quite regularly. The Evergreen happened at least 6 months back? Or maybe much longer… There’s also the 2-3-4* pvp which happens once a year?

I not sure whether it bombs or not, but it definitely shake up the meta so much that it affects player’s experience. It may not be such a bad thing.

Those events were, more or less, meant to be special events. Maybe even just experimental to see what sticks. I don't believe they were meant to shake up the meta.
