Stuck in a Rut. Advice?
I'm a F2P player. I've been playing for a while, and I've been doing pretty well, but I feel like I'm stuck in a rut. I've gotten myself pretty far. I have a bunch of 2* and consistently place around top 50-100 in PVP events. My problem is I can't seem to break into 3*. I have a few but none strong enough to actually utilize. When it comes to PVP I can't take enemies with heros level 60-65. Any advice guys?

When you say you "have a bunch of 2*," are they maxed to L85? You want a core, high-tier 2* team at L85.
Also, I don't understand this statement:Munkeeboi69 wrote:When it comes to PVP I can't take enemies with heros level 60-65.
In general, the 2*-3* transition has always been the longest, and recently, it's gotten even longer. Pushing your alliance into alliance-cover-reward range is key to accelerating your progression. Otherwise, focusing on a new character (in this case, Sentry, or the upcoming Punkstorm) is a good idea, since several set of covers are given out as high placement rewards in the two weeks following initial release.0 -
Are you using shields in PVP? If you're not shielding do you find that you lose a lot of points in the last several hours? Generally you're going to want a 3 or 8 hour shield to close out an event. This is when things start to get bloody because a lot of people wait until the end of an event to play. If you're unshielded with a high point total and a 2* roster you're easy prey for a 3* team.
As HailMary said, you want to focus on getting a strong 2* team. This means pump as much ISO as you can into a heavy hitter (Thor, Ares or Wolvie) and a support character (OBW, cStorm). A maxed team consisting of 2 of these characters plus the loaner 3* can get you into the top 50 in most PVP brackets if you play smart and shield at the end.
If you don't have have one, try to find yourself an alliance that can get you into the top 100. Between your top 50 rank and the alliance rank you can earn two 3* covers per event. That said, it might be tough finding a spot in a top 100 alliance if you can't crack the top 50 in PVP. How do you do in PVE? With a lower-level team your scaling might make it so you rank higher in PVE than guys with a maxed 3* team. If this is the case, you might be able to find an alliance based on your PVE scores.0 -

I'm in the same boat, yet I have paid for hero points. If you do decide to pay money in the future I would recommend only buying hero points to buy more slots do not use your hero points to get more covers, tournament entry, iso, or health packs. ONLY use hero point to open up more slots. You will need to have back-up teams when your out of health packs. The game has gotten to the point were there is too much to do and not enough health or iso. I believe that the devs did this in-order to get the players, that are left playing the game, to spend more money.
The second thing to do is to work on getting iso to level your main core 2* to L85. I find that PvE and PvP sessions are a better way of getting iso. The best way is to play every lighting round PvP tournament. (I have taken a sick day from work and stayed up very late to play as many lighting rounds as possible.) Start the lighting round at the very beginning of the tournament and you will be matched with enough L1 teams to get to 100 level placing and reap all the iso rewards. And don't be afraid to use the skip button if the team is leveled too high than your core team. For the 2+ day long PvP tournament do not enter into the tournament until the very last few hours. Entering early means that you will lose your points gained if you didn't wast hero points on shields.
Third, I would save up standard tokens and heroic tokens. They do not expire unlike the unused covers siting in your roster, because you don't have open slots for them. Also I found that the best time to cash in tokens is right after the end of a PvE tournament. I believe this is because there are more ppl cashing in the tokens that it gives player a better advantage for 3*/2* covers on the standard tokens. I saved 12 standard tokens during the PvE tournament and cashed them in to get 2 3* punishers, 3* Thor, 3* Panther, and a couple of 2* covers. But again only cash in the token if you have the open slots for the covers, otherwise wait and save up hero points.
I commend you on your tenacity for F2P. Good Luck!0
