How does the Thor Okoye team work, and how do I build it?

So I've got all 5*s but Havok rostered now, and I'll have him when I get a few more levels in Reptil, so now I've gotta figure out what 5* to favorite next. I figured that Thor and Okoye would be the most meta to target, but I still don't even know why they're a meta pairing, or how to build them. So any advice on that, or other 5*s to target would be appreciated. I've already got BRB at 11 covers and Kamala and Mighty Thor at 9 apiece so I have the BRB/Polaris meta covered well enough for now. Shang-Chi is only at 4 but thats enough for the Shang/Chavez/Karnak trio for now. Looking for meta strats I can't already run decently well.

You want okoye to be a chunk of level ahead (12+?). She will tank all but green. Match tu and yellow so she heals and makes all specials hit like nukes. Thor under 1/2 health makes loads of ap. can get quick wins and heal back up for the next battle.

You only need a thor with 5 covers on green. At 50% health he destroys and gathers red, green, and yellow AP passively, and you use Okoye’s yellow to collect team up. Then you use Thor’s green AOE and Okoye boosts it with Wakanda Forever.

Thor also works well with BRB, Apocalypse and Mighty Thor and his board destruction can shake things up. He is vulnerable to AOE at half heath/powers that target weakest character so put levels on him if you can to try and bump his health up.

Thorokoye is 2018 meta. The plus point is they save on healthpacks. At one point, players were complaining how boring it was seeing them all over in pvps despite them being easy to beat. The latest partner for Okoye is iHulk (2020 to now) in pves.

You need only 5/0/0 Thor to work. My alt account Thor is 5/0/0 (I think) and he's already doing his job (collect aps and creates cascades sometimes).

Other meta include Apocalypse. You might want to add other defensive option in there though.

Thor/Apocalypse is probably a better team since Apocalypse is dangerous on all his colors even without a true heal. It’s pretty fast in PVE

This has been my go to PvE team for a long while. Thor/Apoc work amazingly well in the required nodes. My preference for a 3rd is usually Onslaught for additional board shake and early nuke if you can get a match 4 or better.

Okoye and Ihulk are a decent combo, but depends on a green board. They can help you clear some fast PVP nodes or PVE nodes, but fighting them has gotten significantly easier and using them normally puts a target on you back in PVP. This team can be very slow when you don't have a green board.

Thor Okoye are health pack savers, but with the one shot potentials, going into a PVP match with a half health Thor can be risky. One wrong move and Shang-Chi ruins your day and Okoye is left solo, which is bad.

Personally, Shang-Chi and Chavez can clear high end nodes quickly and hold there own in pvp, but be ready to be targeted using an unboosted 4star in pvp. They are normally my goto lately.  Shang-Chi and Dr.Thor are a very good combo, but relies heavily on board luck.

Apoc is also great due to high health. dependent on getting yellow going quick. I normally pair him with 5 Star Iceman or BRB. You can also throw Domino in there with Apoc, she will turn the board black in a few rounds, then you can just insta nuke the enemy team.  Apoc/BRB/Polaris is a nuisance team as well.

Don't worry about getting okoye a specific amount higher than Thor.  That approach never made much sense.  Okoye will tank yellow and TU no matter what.  If you're matching anything but TU and Yellow, you're doing it wrong

I tried Apocalypse and 1/2 Thor (4/1/1) for the first time in the 5* Emma required node in Howard’s PvE and died to Daken and friends. It was awful.

If you don’t have a 5xx Thor it isn’t worth running.

I went to that node and did a 5th clear of it with a 3/2/2 Frost (unleveled) and a 460 Apocalypse (3/5/5) and 457 Thor (5/3/5), and I did it but I lost Apocalypse. You have to kill the goon first and then the dark avengers stop getting fed.

These days I certainly don't often use Thorkoye as much anymore, but for nodes with beefy goons and lots of countdowns, I preferred Okoye over Apocalypse because her targeted red can get rid of a countdown that you can't reach when you couldnt kill a goon in time.

The problem with this is that you don't always have a choice about what colours are available. Thor will always tank green over Okoye so if he is tanking red too then you're increasing the risk that you will have to make a match in one of his colours. And if you're using Thor regularly for PVE then you do not want him to get killed half way through a grind. Nothing more annoying than having to revive him and get him back down to half health when you're on the clock.

yeah i mean Ideally Okoye is tanking everything, but even if she is only tanking team up, black, and yellow you are still usually fine. It's not nearly as fast as okoye/immortal hulk for clears, but that team can be pretty health pack hungry on your 3 and sometimes 4* required nodes if you push your luck on a low-health hulk going in.

I love Thorkoye Gorr for tough pick 3 nodes (like Mindless Ones). I used to love Thorkoye Polaris but I find Gorr faster, and fast enough that I don’t miss Polaris’s stun.

And try Thorkoye Scorpion on wave nodes. Absolutely melts them.

I finally got Thor to 5/1/1 and Thorocalypse was promptly wiped to Daken and Friends on the Killmonger’s node in the Unstable ISO PvE. I am willing to accept I’m terrible at this game. Apocalypse, Polaris, and my newly champed Kamala Khan wiped the floor in the Pick-3 nodes though.

It’s a brittle team in the modern game, don’t let it stress you out. There are a lot of better options these days. Also a less than champed Thor has 3* health at 50%; a champed one will at least be in 4* health pool territory at half.

No stress here, I have a champed Shang-Chi. I was looking for something in Pick-2 faster than SC/Valk, other than SC/Chavez + boosts that is. Whatever, 5/1/1 Thor is a great tool to have.

    I typically use Okoye/iHulk for pick 2

Thorkoye is no longer the best option for challenging nodes, and it was never really the fastest team. But it remains a very functional option for all around use, especially if you care more about healthpack conservation than speed.
The minimum requirement is to have at least 1 thor green and then at least 1 okoye black and yellow (and 5 of each color brings the synergy to full power). Obviously having both fully champed helps. And the royal talon fighter support for okoye us also incredibly helpful for pve usage. The best possible setup is to have okoy ~13 levels higher than thor so she tanks red over him, and having at least level parity so she tanks blue and purple is basically essential.
The idea is to get thor below 50% health. He will then become the best battery in the game for red, green, and yellow, providing 1.67 extra ap in each cover per round, plus board shake (he also suppresses enemy r/g/y ap pretty well too). You only ever make matches with okoye to collect and preserve teamup ap. With a baby champ thorkoye you can pretty easily collect 20+ teamup and then every damage dealing ability will be doing at extra 25k or more damage.
The ideal 3rd for them is someone with a cheap stun who can do a lot of passive damage ticks and doesnt tank over okoye (if this sounds like polaris or spiderman 2099 you are correct!).
