Node colors?

So, I've been playing for about a month now, and it strikes me that I have no idea what the node colors mean. I used to think that it had something to do with the challenge the node represented, but I started realizing that the yellow or red color seems to have nothing to do with anything. Here's what I mean.

My rank and points in the current pvp simulator:

Here's the team I've been using, swapping M.Storm and C.Storm as I feel:

If we look behind one of the red nodes, here's the team we see
1.png2.png

His rank is lower than mine, he's got less points, but his heroes outclass mine a little bit. So I'll look behind another red node:

This guy outranks me, AND his heroes outclass mine. So okay, that gives me the idea red means stronger, yellow means weaker.

Let's look behind a yellow.

This guy has a ton more points than me, and his heroes all outclass me again, which would put him in the same category as the second red node, but here he's yellow.

It seems to be the same with weaker teams, too. I can find them behind red or yellow nodes. Do the node colors mean absolutely nothing?

For PVP events, the red ones are retaliation nodes which show up after someone has attacked you. Yellow is normal matchmaking nodes. PVE events also sometimes have a yellow border where a required hero is provided for you to use in that fight, or a red border where a hero is required and you need to have your own to fight.
  • In pvp, If they are red nodes, those are players that attacked you. It gives you the option to retaliate.

I had to ask the same question when I started. Good luck to you!
  • Ah heh, perfect. Thanks for the answer, guys!

Different nodes (in PvP) represent different environments that you will play in. When you view your opponent the background shows you what the environment will be. So the Shield Simulator you are in has 5 different available environments (sounds like the devs will eventually make all environments random).

A red colored node just means you have been attacked/retaliated against and that is the node where you can fight them back. The points you can earn are based off of how many points you had and how many points they had when they attacked you. It has nothing to do with their level.

So you can have 500 total pts with a weak team, I can only have 200 pts with a stronger team. Your retaliation points earned will be very small. But if it were the other way around your retaliation points would be much larger.
