Arcade affiliation

So I was championing my area and realised he had a new affiliation called "arcade" and saw other 2 stars like cap and storm have it too. Maybe only certain characters can be used for the new boss event?

3 star  and 4 star Cap also have the Arcade affiliation.

My guess would be those are the characters we will find ourselves fighting against in the alliance event and the affiliations are a way for the game to easily pull the characters together to set up the nodes.

I noticed that name change for Black Panther earlier today too. I thought it was really strange as well, I’d certainly love to hear the explanation on that too.

Personally, I’m betting the first time they run a new boss event will not be a heroic. They’ll let us use everyone. But that might just be wishful thinking.

All characters that now have the Arcade affiliation used to have the Team Cap or Team Iron Man affiliation. I think, like the Black Panther (Murderworld) title, that it's just a mistake to be fixed soon? The Boss Event's live, and I don't think there's anything involving this new Arcade affiliation.

Arcade as a 3* and 5* character ideally should make good use of these affiliations, given that the trap meta is weak.

Nice catch with arcade replacing team cap/iron man affiliation, can't believe I didn't notice those were gone.  Especially since I checked every single character 🤦‍♂️

I still don't know what to make about 5* BP having his subname changed, was hoping for an answer or update by now.  Hopefully some time this week.

You gotta assume it was a whoopsie right? My guess is there's nothing extra there.

I suspect that they replaced the affiliations to be able to use the existing Civil War Boss Code and "just" reskin it.

    Yea, I'm leaning that way.

They've said before that there are a number of items which are interconnected in the code in unexpected ways. The affiliations and BP's sub-name are all probably connected directly to the underlying code for Civil War and as MadScientist suggested re-using the Civil War code for the Arcade/Murderworld event caused the name changes. Likely isn't "fixable" without either re-coding the event or undoing the Arcade overlay.

However in the same way that there is a wolverine murder world costume, there could be another reasons for the affiliation.
Until arcade's release the mystery will remain.

I wonder if this means Civil War might get retired.

With the feedback from non-line users how complicated this is, Murderworld probably will be retired after the inevitable second run next month, too.

I wonder if this does mean that FA Cap and Mark XLVI IM will have a remake soon. Because, as you know, these two have skills which relied on teammates with the Team Cap and Team Iron Man affiliation.

I, for one, would really, really like a remake for Mark XLVI (one of the worst 5*s in the game for a long while now)
