Roil Eruption sometimes sends kicker damage to wrong target [Investigating]

When using Ral, Izzet Viceroy, if I have a Major Flux of Genius token and cast Roil Eruption on a target with more than 3 health, then send the damage from Genius at a different target, then select yes to the kicker prompt,  the kicker damage gets directed at the target I selected for Genius, not the target I originally targeted with Roil Eruption.
