It was when I had a ton of ISO and no covers to spend them on. So I would usually purchase in burst of 5. Which 9 times out of 10 I ended up with at least one 2*, if not 2. And in my experience, if I hit a 3* on the first or second, i would buy 5 directly after and get a 2* in there as well. If you look up my alliance, you can see my roster. A month ago, all my 2*'s were cover starved. Now they are ISO starved. LOL.0 -
That's about what I recall seeing too - about a 10-15% drop rate on 2*s and maybe >5% for 3*s.
But that was including tokens I was winning from the prologue (sorry, storymode) at the time so the results may be skewed.0 -

The buying 5 at a time also includes the SRT that I won as well. I usually try to wait until I have 5 or 10 saved up and open them all at once now since I am spending my ISO on leveling now.0 -
I would say that if I were to a compile of list of "things I wish I knew" when I first started, it would be:
DO NOT SPEND ISO ON STANDARD TOKENS.
That slowed me down tremendously, thankfully I found this forum and had many kind souls steer me in the right direction. From all the reading I have done here, there is no such thing as ISO starvation in the long haul. Yes, I accumulated around 90k or so because I am collecting 2* covers, and that is a lull that will last for a while, but eventually as the covers accumulate the ISO will fly off the shelf instantly. It is a precious commodity and should be spared.
Furthermore, as the OP suggested, he is looking for 1* covers? In which case, spending ISO on that is just wasteful. There will be more 1* then you will know what to do with in a week or two. I got about 110 in my cache now. Not sure why, I think I am a hoarder.0 -
I read in another tip/guide thread on here that buying a Standard Recruit Token (SRT) is worth it in some instances and here is my experience:
I only redeem tokens in batches of about 5 or more, never less. When I was still a mostly 1* team, after redeeming all my SRTs I would buy 1-2 additional SRTs at 500 ISO-8 each and more often than not I would get a 2* cover or better. I felt it was worth it to make the transition from 1* to 2*.
After you have an established 2* team the chances of getting a 3* cover or better are pretty much nill.
I have redeemed probably close to 300 SRTs over my time with this game and have gotten I think no more than three 3* covers, so about 1 in 100 is a rough estimate, not worth it.0 -
It's about 2 3* per hundred, iirc. Of course, when I do 50-80 at a time, I often don't get any0
-
No, it is not worth your AP. But I like to occasionally gamble and buy one if I have a lot of iso I don't have an immediate use for- Rarely, extremely rarely I get a 2* or 3* which makes me verry happy.0
