Bench press isn’t a “machine.”  There are machines that emulate bench press, but there is no danger that would require a spotter on those. 

The word “machines” here could be replaced with “free weights.”

Or “use the machines” could be replaced with “lift heavy.”

    But you wouldn’t need a spotter, at least not for safety’s sake. That’s why there are hooks every few inches.
