Why are point fluctuations so dramatic in hood rounds?

A lot of people set up useless teams and don't even try as a result.

  • I've been wondering this as well since the lightning rounds started. Mentioned it in a few threads but never really got an answer
  • Something seems off with it, I was 8th with 250+ points with 30mins ago, arrived into work and went to check my score with around 2 minutes left and I am informed I have lost 501 points through attacks (I never even had 500 points to begin with). Ended up scraping a top 1000 finish.

Its all about timing fellas. Your playing at the wrong time. A lot of stuff hwppens in the last 30 minutes. When you rank up fairly high you become a target. So your better off trying to peak just as the tourney finishes. If you want a certain reward (26th for example) you should be there with less than a minute remaining. Qnd even then you should start a low 8 to 11 point game just to be sure. Ive gotten 3 outa 4 ive tried with noone on my team over level 60. Your 500 point swing is insane. Most I've had is 200.
  • That's why there is something wrong. The math it applies on what your point total loss is screwed up for that particular round.

The other day I was at 250 points and someone with 91 points beat me. I lost -41 points. In other tourneys a similar scenario would only yield (at most) -10 point loss.

It's applying loss numbers you normally don't see until you reach the 1000's in other tourneys.

It's such an anomaly, it makes me think they did it on purpose to test a new scoring system for the lightning rounds.

I wonder if it's this, too. The devs seem to like to run little experiments and do analysis on it afterwards. I can support that.

It's been this way since the very first lightening round though. The only things its testing are my patience and the impact resistance of my phone.

My actual theory, however, is that it gives a chance for people other than the usual suspects to win a round, since it seems to be based on sheer luck at the end.
