Toxrill the corrosive is not triggering with feat of death on the board. [Investigating]

I have a deck with fear of death and Toxrill the corrosive, I was playing with Bolas 1. I had the fear of death on the board, it was giving my opponent's first creature a -2/0 at least. Or at least the it reduced it to a 0/2. Then I  used Bolas"s first to kill  the first creature and Toxrill did not trigger.
