Known Issue: Wrong Rewards at The Harvesttide Event

Hello everyone,
I came here to explain to you the situation with the progression rewards of The Harvesttide event, first, there was an error in how the rewards were implemented in the game, that is, the rewards that should be Mana Runes were in the event as Mana Crystals, which made the amount of Mana Crystals much higher than normal. Our team became aware of this error and worked to release a new version before the event started. Yesterday when the new version was released many players made the update, these players are receiving the correct rewards since the beginning of the event. The team's intention was for the Force update to be done before the event started, so all players would need to update to the new version and no one would be harmed by getting fewer rewards than others.
However, there was a delay in the force update, which meant that some players were not aware of the update. These players received the first progression rewards from the old version.
The forced update was made today at 12PM UTC, and now everyone who accesses the game will have to do the update, so no one else will receive rewards other than those planned for this event.
However, as some players managed to get the reward with the wrong amount of Mana Crystals, we know that this can cause frustration for those who updated the game and received the correct rewards (but the fewer amount of Mana Crystals).
So first I would like to apologize on behalf of the entire team for all the confusion about the rewards and the frustration this may have caused. During the week I will be talking to the team about what steps will be taken in relation to this, in the meantime, I hope you will be able to enjoy the event in the best possible way.
Again I apologize for all the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Rebeca

Thanks for the update about The Harvesttide, and hopefully any follow up next week will address some of the remaining confusion and frustration from the early part of the event.

Just wanted to say thank you for all you and your team does for this game and the player base. Like Julie said, things happen. Nobody is perfect and life is full of ups and downs. This game provides many many more ups than it does downs and again we are all very appreciative for all the hard work, communication and excellent customer service your team consistently provides. Keep doing what you're doing and when things don't go as planned it's completely okay, we understand that this is a part of life.

Thanks for getting us addicted :)

Hey, it was a mistake and you fixed it. No big deal.

Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to rage a bit more against that accursed tiamat level 😏

Looks like there’s still an issue with the event even after update. We can’t get full progression unless we get a perfect score. Surely that can’t be your intention?

If I turned off automatic updates, I would probably get a super reward of 1000 gold crystals (some players did it). It's a bit frustrating. In addition, it was not possible to get the last prize for progress without a perfect result.

I see a lot of comments about his veteran players should have known that these rewards were a mistake—are veterans the only ones who count?

What about the new players (or those who aren’t “plugged in” to [redacted bk] secret channels where they hide the inside information they get from Oktagon’s Rebecca) who spent their stash of crystals thinking they was would be replaced in the event by the reward that was displayed both in game and on the forums for days?

It’s easy to say “oh, we should have known that there was a mistake—that’s D3Go for you” and maybe the veteran players do know this. But do the new players?

I’m hearing that a lot of “naive” players who saw the rewards, believed them to be legit, and spent their crystals in anticipation of the event. It is disappointing that the message from both the Game itself and a lot of the “toxic elite” is that it’s *their fault for trusting.*
What an unhealthy attitude. Victim blaming is gross.

Where did you hear it? At your superior, friendly discord?

If yes, is there no "veteran" helpful players who would advice right away that this does not seem real, so don't spend your crystals, just wait?

Or in your in-game coalition? Same question... You are a veteran (I suppose) so again, did you not take the time to advice your coalition teammates right away, at the end of the day, you are so friendly and helpful...

What an unhealthy attitude. Making accusation is gross.

100% true. Not only this. I'm myself a veteran player, playing for 2,5 years, lvl 190, tier 1 in most ranked events - and yet I also accepted these rewards could be true.

People who say "it was so obvious it was a mistake" imho just lack imagination. Things change all the time. This was a new event, after Standard rotation, and during halloween. I could easily imagine that the devs could decide to make crazy rewards this one, single time. Reasons are plenty.

Knowing the usual rewards and the cash price of crystals, it really should have been obvious that something was wrong. Though the blame for it is not on the players, mistake or not. I remember the time the HOD packs had a 99.99% rate and you bet we spent tons of crystals on them.

Pre-spending the crystals however is completely ones own responsibility. Don't sell the skin before the bear is shot and all that.

Can we get some better rewards though? One of the other rewards was 5 packs, that did seem sort of believable. We're not asking for 1.000 crystals, but would it be so bad to do 100 instead of 10? I love it during holiday season that rewards are better and pay-in is cut in half. Wish that was the standard.

I just hope next time they shut down the game to enforce the fix to prevent this from happening again.

And for a nice fat compensation.

I haven't seen any comment anywhere blaming people who were unaware of the bug for having the bug happen to them.  If that ever happened, of course it would be gross.  A little harder to characterise as victims are the people who knew it was a mistake and tried to exploit it anyway.  The only thing I'd say about that behaviour is that it's not consistent with [redacted bk] conception of fair play.  How other groups handled it is a matter for those groups, and how Oktagon deals with it is a matter for Oktagon.

I believe it's been made abundantly clear that this does not represent reality, and as such it's a provocation.  My polite request is that you cease.

Since the other thread has been closed, I would like to say here that yesterday, I opened 3 MID pps (all of my gold) and 9 MID boosters (event rewards). All of these are well over 1000 gold in value. I got exactly 0 mythics out of them, just a handful of new rares. So... the impact of 1000 gold can be close to 0, in this particular instance.

PS: the game is kinda harsh on my drop rates lately, but that's just me spewing my frustration right now :)

I feel that frustration, but its worth pointing out you can currently get the new Wrenn and Seven PW from the vault for <300 gold, and two Mythics from Fblthp for 400 each, so the impact of 1000 gold can be significant.

Your not swearing at the game enough before you open packs. You have to really hurt  its feelings. That how ya get the good stuff. Give it a go next time around and don't hold back!! Lol

A big thank you @Oktagon_Support. This is probably the best solution for everyone and it shows you care for your players. Having done nothing would have been the wrong signal.
