Incivility in our community....
I am so saddened and quite tired of the incivility that seems to be getting worse and worse here in the forums. EVERYONE has opinions and thoughts, and when they share them with us, no matter how flawed, we should be providing them with as much constructive criticism as possible. Not flaming them. Not marking their post negative. But having real conversations that help them understand the flaws of what they said. Conversations should be USEFUL and help people learn, and possibly even help the Devs take the game in a better direction.
I'm not talking about sarcasm. I am a HUGE FAN of sarcasm when implemented correctly. It can make people laugh, smile, and maybe even giggle, including the person the sarcasm is directed at. I don't know how many times sarcasm has been aimed at me and more times than not, I laugh.
But I'm talking about flat out trolling hate responses. What purpose does that serve? None that I can think of. It only leads to bruised egos and more hate filled responses, which in turn creates more hate filled responses until a Mod has to shut down a thread.
Can we not be civil and appreciative of others? Can we not value others opinions, even when we don't agree? Can we not discuss our differences of opinion in a manner that we can all maybe see both sides of the fence?
COME ON PEOPLE! We have a GREAT COMMUNITY here. Can't we try a little harder to keep it that way?

I really think that you're over reacting to a simple downvote but the rest is generally pretty on point.0

It wasn't just that thread. I am off work at the moment, so I have to do something with my time to keep from going insane and start talking to walls and what not. LOL. So I am here A LOT. I have read pretty much every thread and every post. So I wasn't just referring to that thread. I was referring to the overall increase of hostility that has been shown lately.0 -

Increased your fine print for you. LOL.
But you forgot the "!!!" after the SYF comment.0 -

I was in agreement with your tiny font in regards to the downvote topic. I also agree with what aaronschmiz said as well.
See, we're getting along!0 -
What's the downvote topic anyway?0

I had to go into the quote screen to get to the last line. Good thing it wasn't an eye exam. LMFAO0 -

*shrug*
Many no doubt consider me as a big part of the problem, but I'll just say this - I wasn't the first to start the mudslinging, and when it started, I tried appealing to the mods. They were okay with it, so now I respond in kind.0 -

Being able to laugh at each other and with each other in good fun is what is keeping me with MPQ and the Forums.
I love you guys/gals and everyone in between. (Well.... most of you.)0 -

I don't think you're a problem. Incouragable (spelling?) sometimes maybe. But not a problem. You generally try to be constructive way more than you flame/troll. (At least from what I have seen.)
So while I may roll my eyes at some of your post, I generally see through the snark/flame to find your true message if you are trying to portray one.
Edit: To respond to "...now I respond in kind"
But why? I know we all let things get to us on occasion and spout off. But why make that your over all policy? Just sigh, and and move on to the next topic.0 -
Aaron...great posts, as usual.
Now...can't we all just get along? I know TU1 can't, because well...he's just naturally violent and hostile, but I think the rest of us should be able too....I think.
I'll keep my baseball bat ready though just in case.
I kid...A lot. Just keep it fun and respectful.... and I think we'll all be fine.0 -
Well you teach me a new word today. Didn't know that incivility exist. + to you.0

I spelled it wrong to begin with, so I Googled it to get the correct spelling because my spell check didn't think it was a word either. Even after I verified it. But my spell check is probably confused since I manually added words like: nerf, nerfed, PVP, PVE, Spidey, OBW, etc etc to it.
Gotta love Wikipedia...

Must confess I haven't seen much of what is being discussed. Maybe I am just seeing the early signs in a thread and just leaving, but generally this place seems pretty helpful (apart from the ranting at the developers, but on the whole that is understandable).
And the Tips sub-forum etc are just a haven for helpful posts really. In other game forums I have been in, that place would be full of "OMG this question AGAIN, what a ****" posts. But either through good users, or good mods (or both), I barely see that at all.
In conclusion - game is a bit of a mess, this place is allright by me.0 -
Just don't try to lose your **** when writing posts on the forum. If you do, later you will hate yourself and probably won't have a desire to post on the forum ever again after that. Reread what you wrote before posting and edit/delete before posting it.0

Agreed, but **** have learned how to work the Internet and you just can't stop **** from being ****. This is the main reason I quit watching any news coverage at all. I now read the forums less than I used to also because of all the negativity. I agreed with most of the comments aimed at D3 but you can only be around so much negativity before you come down with it too. Just saw an article in the paper this morning about some kids destroying equipment in a park that was just built a week ago. Why? If only we had a good reason for half of the stuff that happens.0

I read the referred post and it deserved the downwotes alright. When someone is completely clueless, even admit it and comes out with all his "how the world should work" ideas, many people who have a clue mark it as improper forum behavior. What may result is ignore or a DW.
I fail to see any incivility case here. And beyond that, this set of forums is extremely civil compared to so many others out in the wild, and mostly so in a primary way, not because of massive moderation.
Also IMO it's pretty proven thing that preaching to a prophet is futile and will hardly result in any good.0
