Here are some questions to think about:
1) what pve is Lockjaw featured in?
2) how many times have that pve(s) being run from 8/26/20 - 8/26/21?
3) Was Lockjaw pvp ran between 8/26/20 - 8/26/21?
I assume AI's and players' Lockjaw are counted.0 -
I'll be very curious about this answer; I bet it is going to feel quite low

Does AI usage count or only player usage? Matters given he appears in the Royal Family node (and I think one other one on one of the new PvE's)KGB0

I assume AI's and players' Lockjaw are counted.Definitely Hearts of Darkness with the Royal Family node. I’m counting 6 times we’ve played that event in the past year.Does he show up in Simulator (4 times), or Cosmic Chaos (6 times)? I don’t remember him off the top of my head, but could be wrong. And does Simulator change sometimes? Or is it always the same opponents?I don’t keep track of PvP, but I don’t remember him recently. But if so, that would definitely make it a much larger number, given how many people play Gritty/Polaris (and really just any character with special tiles).1 -
I know he shows up occasionally in the 2/3/4 DDQ. Was he a CotT in the past year? (Although I'm not sure if he could get the ability to trigger if so.)I believe he was in Puzzle Gauntlets this year. Those would count, as well.
Also a consideration is that it is possible for it to be used more than once per match, if you swap him away from being in front, say, after stunning him, for instance.

There are a lot of questions left unanswered, and we need a MPQ historian for that. It's really a shot in the dark for everyone.
Edit:
I'm going to spell out my calculation and please point out my flaws.
My assumptions:
1) There are ~2 brackets per slice, and they total up to 10 brackets.
2) I included only SCL 7 to SCL 10. So, there's a total of 4 SCLs.
3) 5% of the players will clear and grind 7 times. Each slice has about 1000 players on average. 5% of the players = 50
4) Loyal Protector activates 3 times per match. I pulled this number out of a kennel.
Based on the above, Loyal Protector triggers 10*4*7*50*3 = 42,000 times per event.
Heart of Darkness (Ran 6 times)
42,000*6= 252,000
Simulator (Ran 4 times)
42000*4 = 168,000
Cosmic Chaos (Ran 6 times)
I don't remember seeing Lockjaw in this. If he is, he must be teamed up with someone who could be steamrolled easily. So, I'm going to place this under "Other events".
Other events (DDQ, Puzzle Gauntlet etc)
This is too difficult to remember but I'm going to use the 20/80 principle.
20% * 42000 = 8,400
Total Count
252,000 + 168,000 + 8400 = 428, 4001 -

Other events is a catch-all. I'm not going to go through every threads and count how many times Lockjaws appeared under those situations. I overcounted for SCL 10 as well because it's 3+2 instead of 4+3 clears and grinds.
Anyway, just have fun guessing.0 -
I initially thought 10,000. That was just me thinking I never see him much. and even if I do, I try and not match the tiles that cause him to jump infront and block.
Then I considered we see him atleast 2x a year in PVEs and maybe maybe once in PVP.
Then I considered there are many players and many SCLs.
THEN I looked at other peoples answers and some were in the millions.
So I arrived somewhere between 500,000 and 800,000 as a guess. Very interested to see what the actual number is0 -
@LakeStone
The wording leads me to believe that the rules are considering ALL occurrences of Loyal Protector being fired. This includes on both friendly and enemy teams. Is this correct?0 -

- An enemy Lockjaw in PvP whose power triggers counts, and
- An enemy Lockjaw in PvE whose power triggers counts, but
- A friendly Lockjaw in PvE whose power triggers does NOT count.

The way I interpret it is this:
If you match an enemy friendly special tiles and Lockjaw jumps in front, it's considered triggered, regardless of which event it happened in.
If an enemy matches your friendly special tiles, and your Lockjaw jumps in front, it is not counted, even though it's triggered.0 -
I'm still uncertain about the wording provided. PvP enemies can be considered player teams even if run by AI. In addition, LakeStone stated that both friendly and enemy Lockjaw triggers count. This implies that your Lockjaw jumping in front when an enemy PvP teams triggers it can still count.0

It sucks that this contest does not provide a proper boundary. Then you can just randomly award things.
please uses proper rules in the future.
(I‘m not sour I didnt win, I didn‘t expect to. But if I want to riddle, I want to know my variables/options, or its plain random)0 -
I liked it.0
