Best Cards to Chase with Pinks?

In your opinion, what are the top two or three chase worthy cards that will remain in standard after the upcoming rotation? Mythic and masterpiece only. What sets them apart and makes them worthy of the chase?

Confession: I'm a little lazy when it comes to being creative in this game.

I have some pinkies burning a hole in my pocket. For the longest time I have been chasing Angel of Destiny. While I still haven't caught her, I am close enough to crafting her at this point that I can invest my pinkies elsewhere. I'm just at a loss as to what is worth the pursuit.

Aren't you better off buying the alt art version of Prismatic Bridge for 400 crystals from the Fblthp event?

Good point! Maybe I should add that caveat to my request. Let's exclude cards that are made available through Phblthp since those are more easily attainable.

+1 to Prismatic Bridge.  Mox Ruby is also something everyone should try to get, but that's not done through jewels.
I have the same problem, way too many jewels and nothing to spend them on.  There just hasnt been any other must have cards the last few sets.

I'm not sure of what's in all the pink packs, so I'll just 2nd the recommendation for Dack. He's stupid good.

Yeah, I haven't paid attention to the vanguards since the first couple of sets. He is good! Too bad his vanguard set is not available in the vault right now. Do those rotate in pretty frequently? Like I said, I don't pay much attention to vanguards.

I'd say Dack Fayden is a top pick for pink jewels, he's very powerful and he appears in a very small booster making him easier to chase.

Aside from Dack, I might advise waiting until *after* Standard rotation until you chase something. The next set releases in paper in a month's time so I guess we might get the MTGPQ version of it soon afterwards.
Is the alt art version of Prismatic Bridge regularly available through Fblthp?  My understanding was you got 2 shots at it, once when it's first released behind an unlock wall, and the following week available to everyone.  I dont regularly see all the other alt art cards I havent bought come through Fblthp a second time.  I have the alt art of Prismatic Bridge, so I cant see if/when that comes through again.  If it's not available regularly, then no you arent better off buying it from Fblthp, since you cant anymore.

Are you saying you only get two chances to buy any alt art card in Fblthp, and then after that it becomes unavailable forever?

Seems like something we should be able to test fairly easily over the next few weeks.

Recently I bought the alt art version of Strategic Planning. Is that a recent alt art card? It has the HoD set symbol, but it can't be that old... were they even making alt art cards back then? Is there a record somewhere of when all the alt art cards were released? The wiki has a list but it's incomplete.

That is my understanding, though I think it's not completely true.  I know there isnt a set rotation to full art cards.  I know there are bunch I dont have, and I know quite a few i passed up on have not come back around.  I seem to remember the original Sorin and Bolas Vanguards come through on more than one occasion, but that was well before we had so many full art cards.  I do not believe Prismatic Bridge will come back anytime soon, if at all.
I cant find what I'm looking for on the forum stating they come out one week and have to be unlocked, then the next week they are available to everyone.

I think they broke the forum search function deliberately so we can't check things they said in the past  ;)
I don’t generally have problems with the search functionality here. What’s broken?

@jtwood - could we stay on topic.

So far it seems there are nevertheless few chase cards. I’m surprised by that, but perhaps standard has to rotate before the new power cards are identified.

haha this is like the stuff in hockey or football where the retaliating player gets the penalty
critman, start a topic about your search complaint so we can stay on topic

I guess this is my problem. It's not that I can't identify overpowered cards, there just aren't any currently out there. I guess I'll just continue my pursuit of AoD, and also wait for Dack Fayden's vanguard set to be available again. Oh well.

    Thanks all for the input!

Breeches (Strixhaven Masterpiece) is incredibly powerful. I also agree Dack is a must have. Dungeon Master also looks very powerful (AFR) but the pool chance for him is lower so not as high a priority.

If you are low on crafting orbs, Zendikar has a lot of powerful mythics that are worth getting like the landforming spells, Angel of Destiny and Zareth San, none of which are likely to be available from Fblthp.

If you like Dack, you'll also like Dungeon Master and Mordenkainen. They're very similar.

Agree with the others, Dack is probably ideal for many reasons: not available through Fblthp, and relatively small pull pool, so good chance to grab him, and he will be a staple in your decks.

Other than that, the real question is what alt art cards you have already from Fblthp. It seems to me that lately Octagon make very strong cards available with alt art, like Prismatic Bridge, Khoma, Sarulf, Tanazir, Old Gnawbone, Tiamat. Those could be "chase cards" in a sense that all can be pretty dominant after standard rotation. I am not saying all is must, but can be really strong. But if you have them already from Fblthp then yes, it becomes tricky. Currently I don't see a single MP card that would completely change the landscape like Urza did, there are many fun/strong, but not Urza-level chase MP.

IMO, best course of action is to wait after rotation, see what Innistrad will bring and decide based on that. It seems we might get two Innistrad sets close to each other, maybe smaller pink pools, and strong cards, and then you will find where to spend the pinkies.

The thing is, though, if you have Dack, do you need Dungeon Master or Mordenkainen?
You will need Dungeon Master once Outlaws' Merriment rotates ;-)

Here are cards which are crucial imho. Hope this is of some help ;)
    Supports
Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle - converts 8 gems (4B + 4G), resilient, defense and +12/+12 bonus; even if one of the colors is not compatible with the PW, still good for cascades

The Prismatic Bridge - new Killer Instinct

Mordenkainen - draws cards, gains mana

The World Tree - converts 5 gems (it works different from what the description says)
    Creatures
Old Gnawbone - lot's of mana, this card is so OP it's untrue; will be nerfed?

Iymrith, Desert Doom - draws cards, gains mana

    Galazeth Prismari - gains mana

    Heads up!

The Planechasing Fblthp event has Prismatic Bridge on offer for the next 17 hours!

I'm so glad I was wrong about it being limited to one run.  It's well worth picking up.
