Advice on which 3* to focus (according to my roster)

here's my situation, i'm a F2P player, like pretty much everyone else so i'm collecting HP the hard way
so since i'm not really getting all the 3* covers i need to transition to 3* fast enough, i'm looking into spending HP to upgrade some covers. Needless to say, 1k HP per cover is no joke, so i'm looking for advice on who to finish up first and will benefit the most in my roster
my roster right now looks a little something like this

Psylocke 3/5/1
Punisher 5/2/2
GSBW 3/1/5
Ragnarok 2/5
Loki 4/3
Hulk 5/1/1
BP 3/22
4* Wolvie 3/2/1
IM40 1/4/1
3* Cap 1/4
CMag 4/1
DDC 3/2
Spidey 4
Daredevil 3/1
Falcon 1/2/2
Hood 2/2
IW 1/1
Patch 2/1/1
Daken 2/1
HT 1/1/1
Lazythor 1

i'm leaning towards getting punisher's green up to max so he can work better in the team, then try to focus up his reds and bring down his black accordingly, psylocke is my highest level but she's sub-par at best. if it matters, i'm still one of those (event hero)/OBW/Ares players, with Punisher in there for SHIELD simulator battles
i'm at 800HP so i'm pretty close to a new cover, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

As noobprime says, if that's your full roster, you need more roster slots. New characters generally get several cover-reward events soon after release (prime examples would be Rogers and UDaken). Now that Season 1 has concluded, some formerly death-filled PVP brackets seem to have slackened a bit, so you could potentially get a new 3* up to 10-11 covers within about two weeks of release if you're in a decent alliance.

That said, your Punisher is indeed the closest to viable. 5 green is really the only mandatory aspect of his build, so your plan seems solid. 5G Punisher + OBW is quite a nice team, esp. since the AI can play them fairly well on defense.

thanks for the replies, so far i'm still leaning towards HP for roster slots, but i do feel like i need to quicken the transition to 3*
i guess i'll wait for season 2 to die down.. i'm still getting some good ranks in events though, usually safely within top 50 and top 10 if it ends before midnight my local time, so i'll grind before going to bed
though Punisher covers seem a bit rare, especially the greens. i've already gotten 2 extra blacks from pulls
  • CMag 4/1
    Patch 2/1/1
    Daken 2/1
    Lazythor 1
    Hulk 5/1/1

    Punisher 5/2/2
    Psylocke 3/5/1
    3* Cap 1/4

Top are main characters, in no particular order, bottom are support/niche characters. You're closest to getting Punisher to a usable state, but I think you're still a far ways from them being useful for you. The game punishes you as much as it rewards you for leveling up, so you really want to make sure you have at least two characters and the ISO to level them up to 100, before you make the transition.

Wait, Hulk & UDaken are main characters, but Punpun & Rogers are support characters? I don't get it. UDaken has one active and Hulk is reactionary, which would make them assistants, not divas. Meanwhile, Rogers deals major red damage, and Punisher is a one-man wrecking ball.

i'm in the same spot and from what people are saying in the forums, there isn't any point till you really have a solid 3* team, so just be patient, stay at your slightly lower level and don't try and prematurely jump to the 3*s just yet.

They're more central characters to pvp. Punisher can be useful, but he's weak on defense by himself. He's a utility character. Same with cap - better for PvE. Both can be annoying, but are generally manageable. Whereas Patch UDaken LThor CMags, even Hulk can all ruin your day a lot easier, depending on who they're paired with. Regarding UDaken, I'd argue he effectively has 1.5/2 active since he automatically generates strike tiles when anyone makes green matches. Yes, I know this by definition is passive, but it's like an active power that costs nothing.

The bottom 3 are generally a lot more dependent on the rest of your roster, whereas the ones I listed up top are a bit more independently strong. Hulk is arguable whether to call a main or support. He can be either, depending on how he's played and who you pair him with. His green and red are reasonably strong on their own, tho obv not LThor/Patch/Sentry strong. His green + resultant cascades can kill you pretty easily though at high level, and can be somewhat self-replenishing depending on the cascades.

However, the important takeaway I intended was that all of the ones I selected in both sets are very useful characters or I wouldn't have singled them out. In terms of which to focus on, that comes somewhat down to personal play style and how much you want to get attacked. I think we'll both agree that IW or Loki would definitely not be on our shortlists for characters for him to focus on. icon_e_wink.gif

Can anyone comment on the usefulness of his GSBW if he were to take it to 5/1/5? I realize that's 2 covers away and the 5th cover is way more important than the 4th so I still wouldn't advise him to get it, but is GSBW just too underpowered to be worth getting to that level? I have no experience playing with her, and I know she's not very good defensively due to bad AI, really expensive nuke, and relatively low health, but I still see her played, so she can't be THAT bad right?

Anyway, agree with others that I would still use HP for roster slots, but also look to level Punisher's green asap.

personally i'm not too fond of GSBW.. true, she bursts down enemies quite quickly but i feel i'm just asking to be trashed defensively
my main concerns on who to level first is due to the fact that many cannot really combo with the 2*s all that well.. meaning i need 2 3*s to properly move on to the 3* tier.. so i was hoping Punisher would help out with his green + OBW's black.. seems to be one of the only combos i can pull off right about now without spending too much on covers.. maybe my CMag can work better after this tournament (trying REALLY hard to finish top 10 for the 2 covers which would help A LOT)
